The LMX 650 cutting and machining line brings impressive new levels of flexibility and efficiency to the production of aluminium curtain wall bars and large specialist door products through a highly automated process. Matt Hardy, Director at Skyglaze said: “The FOM LMX 650 cutting and machining line has revolutionised our aluminium production, giving us much greater flexibility, speed and efficiency in our processes. The software is more powerful than any other product on the market, giving us the opportunity to manufacture specialist door products at high volume. The results so far have been incredible.”

The LMX 650 comes as a result of many years work in FOM’s R & D Department and is packed with modern design features and innovative solutions. It has been designed to process high-end aluminium product with maximum flexibility and integrate fully to ‘Industry 4.0’ standard.

The multispindle machining ring can hold 18 fixed and tilting spindles, featuring step milling, flow drilling and tapping technology. The cutting centre features two sawing/machining heads; one with a 360 degree rotating 4 axes 650 blade; the second, a flexible tool changing machining spindle with

three position tool magazine to maximise flexibility when end notching, milling or 45 degree angle cutting. The four-axis step in and step out profile handling allows all cutting and machining options when processing both ends of a bar, making this the perfect high volume automated line for curtain walling and specialist door products.

The FST ProF2 software package is a unique and fully integrated programme that incorporates every stage in the production process. Available in 4 versions, the software is highly adaptable and flexible with full production tracking by barcode and management of material quantities and inventory levels. ProF2 can easily be modified to work across all industry products and as well as aluminium systems, the programme can also manage PVC, wood and steel production processes.

Roger Franklin, Company Director said “This is truly a state-of-the-art installation and together with a dynamic FST (FOM) software package, Skyglaze have been able to revolutionise their production processes.”

David & Roger Franklin have always worked very closely with customers, and with 35 years experience in the industry, are able to offer production and engineering solutions at the highest level.
