Deugald was succeeded by his lineal grandson: Registered in 1292 as “Macdowyl” with his brother Fergus in the “Ragman Roll” of general fealty to Edward I; had a Charter in 1295 from his 3 rd cousin King John Baliol Lord of Galloway confirming him in the Barony of Garochloyne with Lougan and Elrig on the Rhinns of Galloway. He was Captain (and Edward I’s Sergeant) of the armed forces of Galloway against the invading Bruces and in 1307 he captured Thomas and Alexander Bruce who invaded from Ireland for which he was Knighted by Edward I. He battled Robert I in the names of the Comyn and Baliol Lords of Galloway and Kings in Galloway, Dumfries IOM and Bannockburn; and he fought Edward Bruce at the rivers Cree and Dee. Had 8 sons, the eldest of whom was DOUGAL who married the heiress of Hugh de Champaigne but was killed 1314 at Bannockburn. He died 1328 in England and was succeeded by his 2 nd son. Returned from England (1329 and raised the Galwegian forces in support of returning King Edward Baliol in 1332, 1334 and 1339 for whom he fortified Heston Island in Eastern Galloway.
