Inside the Globe And
Macbeth By: Emily Damm
1. Macbeth is a very dark play 2. The Globe is the theatre built by Shakespeare 3. The Globe was built in 1599
The Audience is the most important factor of the Globe Theatre. It is unlikely to see an audience react to plays as much as the Globe audience does. It is expected of the audience to boo and hiss, and interact with the actors. The audience can be identified by were they are sitting. The sitting arrangements tell you what class you are in. As an illustration, if you stand on the ground floor, you are often the poorest. If you are in a gallery, you are wealthy. Therefore, if you are sitting in the Lords
Room, you are the wealthiest. It is interesting how much you can tell, or do at the Globe. Overall, that
is why the audience is the most important factor of the Globe Theatre.
The Audience of the Globe Theatre
1. The Flag (the object that lets you know what type of play it is)
2. The Heavens (the roof for the actors) 3. Tiring House (storage and dressing rooms) 4. Upper Stage (used for balcony and
bedrooms) 5. Galleries (covered seating) 6. Main stage (main acting place) 7. Inner Stage (indoor scene place) 8. Open Yard (place where groundlings stood) 9. Support Pillars (supporters of the roof also
used as props) 10. Trap Door (exit for actors) 11. Entrance (box office) 12. Brick Foundation (brick support that keeps
up the Globe)
Macbeth The evil queen, Lady Macbeth, wants to revenge her father. Macbeth, the husband of Lady Macbeth, wants to be king. In order to succeed getting revenge, and being king Macbeth has to kill the current king, Duncan. Sorrowful moments take place after the murder of Duncan. Which makes it a horrific, yet wonderful play to watch.
This is the scene from Macbeth where Macbeth finds out that Lady Macbeth has died. In the back you can see a candle blowing out which represents the words of Macbeth. Out, out, brief candle! Lifes but a walking shadow, a poor player
