Mac users guide

These are the basic information how to use the campus services for Macintosh. *This instruction is written based on Mac OS X 10.9.

Setting up the wireless LAN connection

1. Turn on your Mac and click on the WiFi icon on the task bar.

2. Point to iuj-air1

3. Type your username and password for

IUJ network and click Join.

4. To confirm the connection, click on the WiFi icon again and point to

Open Network Preferences…

5. If the status is Connected, you got connected to the IUJ network.

Accessing the iuj-home server

1. Open Finder and click on Go and point to Connect to server on the taskbar. 2.Type server name as below.

smb://iuj-home or iuj-home.iuj.ac.jp

3. Select a folder you want to open and click OK.

Tips: If you want to make a short cut to iuj-home, drag a folder to the desktop from the iuj-home window. *Note that you cannot make a short cut of iuj-home directly. Once the network is disconnected, you are asked to type you username and password to login when you open the shortcut

Installing Symantec Endpoint Protection for Mac 1. Access the website to download the installer.

2. Read the agreements and click Agree.

3. Type your username and password for IUJ network and click Log In.

4. Select the language and click to download the installer

5. After you download the installer, open it and start installation.

6. Click Continue.

7. After reading the User License Agreement, click Agree & Install.

8. Enter your Macintosh user ID and the password. (NOT your IUJ user ID) And click Install Helper.

9. Wait a moment…

10. Click Close & Restart to complete the installation. (Your Mac will be restarted automatically.)

11. When you find Symantec icon on your desktop, the installation is finished.

Network printer installation for Mac OS MLIC provides 7 full-color printers and 5 black & white printers for Mac OS users.

1. Installation of printer drivers 1.1 Open Finder and click Go > Connect to server.

Type iuj-home for the Server Address box and click

Connect. 1.2 Type your user name and password for IUJ

And click Connect.

1.3 Find and Select Macintosh folder and click OK.

Open the Printing folder and copy the file “fxmacprnps1312am105fml.dmg” to the Macintosh desktop. And then double click it to start.

Copy to the desktop and run it.

2. Printer configuration using Safari 2.1 Open your Safari and access the CUPS page that is prepared in your Mac by typing the URL below.

http://localhost:631 (CUPS = Common UNIX Printing System)

When the page is opened, click Adding Printers and Classes.

2.2 Click Add Printers.

If you are prompted to type your user name and password, type them for Your Macintosh local ones.

And then click Log In.

2.3 Select Windows Printer via spoolss and click Continue.

2.4 For the Connection box, type the printer URL referring to the following chart. And click Continue.

2.5 Type a printer name and click Continue. 2.6 Choose “FX” and click Continue

2.7 Select a driver file from the list by referring to the printer driver name chart below. And click Add Printer.

2.8 When the page below is viewed, click General and change the paper size from “Letter” to “A4”. Output Color: Change “Color” to “Black and White”

Click “Set default options” on bottom of this page.

Note:

To print multiple pages in 1 sheets, select Layout on a print window. Then, you can set pages per sheet.

3. Changing the default paper size of MS Word to A4 Note: If you print your document for US letter size, printers will be stopped and you will be forced to cancel your printing job. To avoid this, set the MS office document ( Word, Excel, Powerpoint) paper size from US Letter to A4 by the following the instruction below.

4. Printing your documents 4.1 Open MS Word and click File>Print. Select the printer and click Print. .

4.2 When the printer icon on the Launcher is jumping, click it.

4.3 Click the printer cue that is On Hold(Authentication Required) and click Resume. 3.4 Type your user name and the password for IUJ and then click OK.

Campus programs can be installed on your Mac Mac users can install the following programs provided by the university.

Conditions: You are required to be a regular student. You need to fill out an application form or sign up before you install programs.

Procedure: <Windows/Office/STATA> 1. Bring your Mac to the location above. 2. Fill in the application form. 3. Leave your Mac. 4. Wait for contact from MLIC. 5. Come back to pick up your Mac. 6. Sign the sales record *Only to Windows installation.

<Symantec Endpoint Protection>

1. Access iuj-edu>software>Symantec to download the installer. 2. Follow the instruction from the page 4. *You do not need to bring your Mac to the MLIC office but it requires get connected to the campus network.
