Thank you for using the new generation desktop banknote banding machine SBM-90 .

The SBM-90 will support you with a lot of new features and advantages.

• The SBM-90 is constructed as a reliable,compact, heavy duty working banknote banding machine

• With it’s compact size (40cm x 11.2cm x 24.5cm) and less weight 7kg the working area of the machine can be changed easily. The small size allows to place the SBM-90close by your banknote counting machine.

• Themachine is operatingwithonly 24VDC;thereisnohighvoltage(220VAC)withinthe machine, that means much more security for he user.Apowersupplymodulewhichsuppliesthemachinewith24Visincludedinthedelivery.

• Due to a separateband feedingmodule,band feeding is realized very easy andcomfortable

• It is possible to use all kind of bandingpaper quality, since the machine can be adjusted by software parameters to reach the best banding result. It is not necessary (and not possible for operator) to make any mechanical adjustments or changes for different banding paper quality and banding result.

A significant new feature of the SBM-90 is the integrated printer function.

• After finishing of a banding cycle, themachine prints 4 lines of data on the band during removing movement of the strap• Theprinted4linescancontainfixdataandvariable data, with 20 characters each line• Dateandclockwillalwaysprintedononeline and can be changed only by service or supervisor• Dataofeachother3linescanbechoosenby the operator from 8 prestored options (e.g. 8 operators)

• SwitchontheSBM-90bythepowerswitchat rear side• Thedisplaycomesup, indicating that themachine is heating up• Wait tilloperatingtemperature is reached(takes around 2 minutes)• When the temperature is reached themachine is ready for operation• If there is no band reel installed in themachine, follow the instruction “Replacing the Band Reel”:

Anytimeyouintendtoenterwithyourfingersintothebandingareaofthemachine(in order to take off band parts or clean this area), be sure you have blocked (disabled) the machine; You can block (disable) the machine by pressing the ENTER-button for 2 seconds; also the display will indicate “machine is disabled”If the machine is disabled, no action (no movement of motors) will occur You can enable the machine again by pressing the ENTER-button ForsafetyreasonunplugthepowersupplymodulefromAC220Vifyoudonotusethe machine for long period or overnight

PREPARATIONS FOR OPERATION

• Press the ENTER button for 2 seconds, so

that the machine is disabled

• Open the band cover

• Remove old reel If necessary move the band end by pressing the button UP

• Take off the reel holder out of the old reel

• Install the reel holder into the new reel

• Put the new reel with holder in right direction into the machine

• Feed the band end into the machine till the transport roller is reached

• PressthebandadvancebuttonDOWN,tillthe band end can be held by operator fingers

• Close the reel cover

• Pull the band end powerful and quickly till its cutted by the machines knife

• Press the ENTER button so that the gripper fingers catch the band end and the machine is in ready status

• The machine has to be in “ready status”

• Alingthebanknotestobebandedandputthem into the machine as shown in the Pictures 1, 2

• Afterthebanknotesareplacedcompletelyin the machine, the banding cycle will start automatically

• After banding cycle starts, do no longerhold the banknotes with fingers

• Whenthebandingcycleisfinishedyouwillhear a short signal tone and also light comes up

• Pull out thebanded straphorizontally toright side, with continuous speed.

• During moving out the strap, the internal printer will wright 4 lines of data on the band

• Please pull out the banded strap carefully out of the machine in order to achieve best print result on the band

• As soon as the strap ismoved out, themachine immediately starts the preparations to get into “ready status” again

• If you do not use the SBM-90 for appr30 minutes, the machine stops heating; the display shows “SLEEPING”; to awake pressENTER button.

BANDING CYCLE FAILS

• Disable (block) the machine by pressing the ENTER-button, for2seconds–nowyoucan enter with your fingers into the banding area without danger

• Remove all banknotes out of the machine

• Remove also band or band parts out of the machine

• If band is not cutted correctly pull the band manually to be cutted, if necessary advancewithDOWNbutton

• Whenthebandingareaofthemachineis empty, enable the machine again by pressing the ENTER-button again.

• Automaticallytheband-control-fingerswill catch the leading edge of the band and band advance will follow

• Machinegetsintoready-status–seealsodisplay

• Start normal banding procedure again

If banding cycle fails and parts of band remain in the machine, follow the instruction steps:

PRINTER CARTRIDGE CHANGE

For replacing the printer cartridge or to clean the cartridge head follow the instructions:

• Shutoffthemachinebythepowerswitchrear side of the machine• Openthecartridgedoor• Releasethecartridgefixingmechanism

(picture)• Carefullymovethecartridgealittlebitup,and pull out (picture)• Cleanthecartridgeheadcarefullywithasoft cotton-material• Wheninstallingthecartridge,firstfixandput into place the cartridge and than lock the fixing mechanism (picture)

PRINTER DATA DOWNLOAD FROM PC TO SMB-90

The printer data for Lines 1,2 and 3 have to be downloaded from PC to SMB-90..Line4alwaysprintsdateandtime,duringadownloadprocessactualdate/timeofPC-systemis automatically transfered to SBM-90.The data list for Lines 1,2 and 3 can be edited new, or recalled from prestored file or partly changed and than downloaded to SMB-90.

•ConnectPCardSMB-90withspecialRS232interfacecable(delivered).•StartMABAS-DATA-TRANSFER-PROGRAMonPC.•CreatethedatalistforLine1,2and3by.

- Recalling an existing file.- Change some lines of existing list.- Edit new list.

•ShutoffandontheSMB-90.•Transferthecreateddatalist.•Ifdatatransferissuccessful,disconnectinterfacecablefromSMB-90.•NewtransferreddataandalsoactualdateandtimeisnowavailableonSMB-90.

PARAMETER CHANGES

If you want to change band tension ( more loose or strong ) temperature, or if you change your band supplier who delivers different quality, you can easily adjust your machine for best result by just changing software-parameters; there is no need and possibility to make mechanical adjustments.

To enter into parameter list menu, press the MENU button, till the display changes into parameter listEvery time you press the MENU button the display changes to the next parameterThe parameters can be changed between the values 1-8:WhenyouenterintotheparameterlistbypressingMENUbutton,thefirstparameterwhichappearswillbetheonewhichwaschosenlatestof‘PRINTERLINE1’or‘PRINTERLINE2’or‘PRINTER LINE 3”.

The integrated printer of the SBM-90 prints 4 Lines of information on the band.The 4th Line contents allways date, clock and cannot be changed by operator.The prestored data of line 1,2 and 3 (for each 8 option data prestored) can be chosen by the operator.for example; operator name change:If the operator name list (8 names) are prestored for line 3, follow the instruction•EnterparameterbypressingMENU•ChangedisplaytillPRINTER LINE 3 DATA•Chosenewoperatornumber(1-8)byusingthearrowbuttonup/down•Press ENTER button
