She also drew rave notices for her performances in Lute Song and in troupe playing The Barretts of Wimpole Street. the road company of Annie Get Your Gun, but it was as Nellie Forbush in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific that she made her greatest mark on the contem- porary theater, creating a character which is now legend. After conquering London in the same part, she returned to this country to appear opposite Charles Boyer in Kind Sir, her first non-musical role. Miss Martin has also been extremely active in the motion picture and recording fields and, in television, has captured the imagination and enthusiasm of millions.

CYRIL RITCHARD (Mr. Darling and Captain Hook) made his first theatrical appearance at Her Mayjesty’s Theatre in Sydney, Australia. He remained with that company for six years, coming to New York for Puzzles of 1925. Soon after, he and his wife, Madge Elliott, went to London where they were soon established as the city’s top musical comedy dancing stars. Mr. Ritchard returned to this country in 1947 for an appearance with John Gielgud in Love for Love; in 1953 he

more than twenty motion pictures.

He has also been active as a Finian’s Rainbow and Bloomer Girl. director, serving in this capacity for the comedy Edna, as well as for the revue, Almanac. He has also re-staged The Barber of Seville for the Metropolitan Opera, and has been very active in television.

KATHY NOLAN (Wendy) is one of those wonderful instances of show business magic—the youngster born into the theatrical world who waited a considerable both in London and New York. time for her break. Miss Nolan first appeared before an audience at the age of 13 months on her father’s Mississippi river boat. She later played a series of ingenue | roles and, when Mary Martin was appearing in St. Louis with the touring company of One Touch of Venus, was fortunate enough to secure an interview. Last summer, she auditioned for the part of Wendy and made such an immediate impression that she was signed on the spot.

MARGALO GILLMORE (Mrs. Darling) has enjoyed one of the really distinguished careers of the contemporary theater. She made her debut in The Scrap of Paper, and has since been seen in such well-remembered dramas as Outward
