Operators must read this manual carefully and must follow its indications down the line. The manufacturer will not be liable for damage to persons and/or things or damage to the product, if the following conditions are not respected.

After reading the manual, you will be able to use the product as best as possible, but above all of ensuring your safety and that of others.

The manual should always accompany the product, even if transferred to another user.DO NOT deteriorate the document

warranty and supply conditionsThe Manufacturer is the person who produces t eh machine, author and owner of the project; the Manufacturer may also be an Agent of the latter.The Customer is the final user of the technical good or product;The product must be intended as a machine, partly-completed machine, equip-ment or technical asset regulated in Europe by directive 2006/42/EC.

The Manufacturer declares that the machines complies with the law provisions in force in the member countries of the European Economic

Community and issues the enclosed dECLARATION OF CONFORMITy.

Products that do NOT have the CE marking must be completed by the Customer, who must provide a certification for the whole system and

issue the dECLARATION OF CONFORMITy wherever required.In this case the Manufacturer issues a dECLARATION OF INCORPORA-

TION (type "b") or other certifications.The warranty is supplied separately with the product. During the warranty period, any step involved in the disassembly or replace-ment of parts must be carried out before specialised technical personnel of the Manufacturer or the warranty shall be considered null and void.

Exclusion from supplyThe Manufacturer is only responsible for defects deriving from the normal use of the product. This does not include pieces subject to normal wear or if it is ascertained that the cause of the failure derives from misuse or poor maintenance.No warranty claims shall be accepted for damage due to frost, high temperatures and failure to comply with the instructions relating to maintenance not envisioned at the design stage.The warranty does not cover system downtime or production losses.We cannot foresee all possible installations or areas where the product will be installed; so you should check:- External lighting system, that allows for safe operations.- Foundations and safety distances, which must be suitable to withstand the dynamic load.- Explosion-proof equipment (ATEX) or special flammability conditions.

The explosion-proof version is only provided upon a specific request from the Customer. Please see the specific ATEX manual for these models.

Product IdentificationThe identification plate reports the serial number and some important data.Based on the supply, it may also report the CE logo.

The plate also specifies the right direction of rotation of the impeller.

The plates must NOT be removed or concealed under any circumstances.

Scope and structure of the document

Our technicians, who have extensive expertise in the sector, work on the research and development of out products everyday by developing increasingly efficient products in accordance with current safety standards, as well as producing ef-ficient and exhaustive documentation.

All appointed personnel is required by the Manufacturer to comply with and put into practice the content of this manual.

The Manufacturer shall not be liable for any injury caused to people and damage to property deriving from failure to comply with: the content here below, safety standards and any modifications made to the product.

The standards and recommendations reported here below reflect current safety provisions and therefore are mainly based on compliance with these general rules.Accordingly, we strongly recommend all exposed persons to comply with the accident-prevention standards in force in their own country.

This document (USE AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL) is a valid guidebook to work safely and perform operations necessary to ensure good maintenance of the product.All personnel using the product must read and understand what is described in this document.

The original language of this document is ITALIAN, so in case of inconsisten-cies or doubts, please ask the manufacturer for the "ISTRUZIONI GENERALI" (General instructions) or for further clarifications.

To keep this document properly: protect its contents from damage; do not abandon it during use, return it after use, keep it with care.

Do not remove, tear out or modify any part of this manual for any reason; any modifications or suggestions must be authorised by the manufacturer.

Recipients of the document

This document is intended for qualified professional figures who know how to operate in accordance with the most common safety rules and specific expertise.

All the professional figures who use this product must read this manual. Moreover they must be informed about any RESIDUAL RISKS deriving from use and/or maintenance operations on the product and/or accessories (shutters, ducting, transmissions, etc.)

This manual CANNOT make up for the lack of knowledge of those who use the product. Personnel appointed to operate, conduct maintenance and/or other operations must have specific experience related to this kind of product or similar ones; if necessary, request courses or training.

The Customer is liable for any damage caused or injury sustained by the personnel that he/she has allowed to install, use and carry out maintenance on the product.

Some general safety prescriptions provided may be excessive or impossible to respect in some rare situations (e.g.: first start-up, particular maintenance, tests, breakdowns or malfunctioning etc.).In these cases, the operator, toolmaker or maintenance technician may act dif-ferently, as long as: - they perfectly know what they are doing;- they have appropriate skills and training;- they do not hurt themselves.

Personnel characteristicsStaff charged with installing, using or servicing the product must be expert, familiar with the tasks described and must be able to reliably interpret the information given in this manual as well as run safe and scrupulous controls.The use of UNQUALIFIED staff, disabled and inept staff, or persons who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, is prohibited.The Customer, or employer has civil liability for any damage caused or sustained by the personnel that he/she has allowed to use the product.The responsible personnel must have the following requirements:- full use of upper and lower limbs;- distinction and knowledge of colours.- good sight and hearing;- ability to read and write;- knowledge of danger and warning signs;- ability to check if operations are performed correctly and the quality of the product, correcting and reporting anomalies, if necessary.

Persons who take drugs, alcoholic beverages and/or nar-cotic substances are not allowed to use the product.

Symbols and signs

Read the document, which must be available for use in future. The manual must not show any deterioration; do not tear or scribble on pages.

General hazard. Steps that require great care. Operations that require authorised and qualified professionals.

Voltage hazard: located on live components (electrical control cabinets are supplied as OPTIONAL items and documented separately)Obligation to earth the system. Fixing point of the earthing cable.

Obligation to cut off the power before working on the product and locking the master switch (IG) and/or general pneumatic or hydraulic shut-off valve with a padlock (shutters or various devices)

Hot areas: indicates a hazard due to the presence of hot parts or overheating (risk of burns).

Risk of explosions or need to request explosion-proof equipment (ATEX).

Crushing of hands, feet or body parts due to unsuitable hoisting or handling systems or moving parts controlled remotely: impeller, shutters, etc.

Hazard due to high sound pressure.In the various kinds of installation there may be circumstances with excessively high noise levels. Generic prohibition: they indicate prohibition to gain access to the area exam-ined or the prohibition to carry out this operation or manoeuvre.Prohibition to remove the protections. Do not operate or perform maintenance on the product with the protective devices removed and/or guards open.

Obligation to carry out the above steps with the personal protective equipment (PPEI) and/or the personal means of production provided by the employer (over-alls, gloves, headphones or protective hearing devices, goggles, etc.).

Anchoring devices or hoisting points suitable to harness the product.

Positive testing. This means that the product successfully past the testing per-formed by the Manufacturer. Check all the conditions specified in the manual, also during installation on site.

PASSEDObligation of disposing of electric and electronic devices in special landfills for separate collection, in order to prevent environmental pollution.

General information

The Manufacturer refuses any liability for any damage originating from incorrect or unwise operations.

It is strictly forbidden and dangerous to use the product for different uses from those provided within the field of application.

Normally intended useThis fan was designed to:

Product a flow of air, gas or steam by increasing their pressure,with a variable flow rate and head according to the model.

The steam or gas must comply with the features of the model.

In the event of extraction, the fluid is in depression.The pressure difference, which is sometimes very high, between the fluid extraction section and the ejection one, can generate considerable differences in terms of humidity and temperature.Temperatures without cooling fan (V) from -20°C to +80°C

Limits of the field of application

The field of application of the fan and the devices fitted on it (shutters, motors, etc.) must remain within the limits defined in the contract of purchase, on com-mercial documentation, on the manual and its ATTACHMENTS.Never exceed the operating conditions (rotation speed and temperature) for which the fan size was designed.

Non authorised use

IT IS STRICTLy PROHIbITEd TO:- Heat or dry rags and clothes on high-temperature parts. - Perform maintenance with the product powered on and/or in the presence of unauthorised personnel.- Use the fan for fluids other than the ones it is intended for.- Use the fan with the protective and safety devices not in good working order or disabled and with the guards open.- Use the fan without the protective clothing and/or personal protective equipment.

The Manufacturer refuses any liability for any damage origi-nating from incorrect or unwise operations.

SPECIFICATIONS

The fans and accessory equipment are designed and made according to their use. Therefore, the specific technical data relating to your model has been agreed at the time of order and the relevant documentation is provided before the delivery of the product and of this manual.

Based on the model, the features of your fan are reported in the documentation at the time of order.The additional documentation is enclosed with this manual.

Specific technical data (on the fan plate)

The fan this manual refers to is a centrifugal fan coupled directly.

The specific technical data of the fan and accessory equipment is agreed at the time of order.The essential specific technical data is reported on the plates of the product:- Identification code (to request spare parts)- Serial number and year of manufacture- Supply voltage and frequency (on the motor)- Total electrical power installed (on the motor)(the weight and the dynamic load required to design the bases and/or foundations is supplied at the time of order).

Depending on their size, the fans can be supplied disassembled in several parts or components. In this case assembly documentation is supplied.

Do NOT turn on the fan without first carrying out all the START-UP operations.

General information about safety

The product has been designed according to strict regulations concerning accident prevention and is fitted with appropriate safety devices to protect components and the operator.

Obviously, we cannot take into account all possible installations and working areas where the product will be installed; therefore, the Customer must duly inform the Manufacturer about particular installation conditions.

The instructions in this manual do not supersede the safety provisions and the technical data for installation and operation applied directly to the product, the safety regulations in force in the country of installation or rules based on common sense.

It is fundamental to correctly inform the operators. Op-erators must read and respect the technical information indicated in this manual and in the documents attached.

Heavy parts or equipment (more than 25 kg) should be han-dled and/or lifted with appropriate lifting means and holding on to the special lifting points provided by the manufacturer.

Avoid using the product if any anomaly is noticed.

Avoid any makeshift repairs as these must only be done using original parts, which are to be installed according to the intended use. The respective Manufacturers will be liable for the commercial components.

RESIdUAL RISKS

An analysis on residual risks of the product was carried out as required by the Machinery Directive.Here below is information intended for all exposed personnel in order to prevent possibleinjury to persons and/or damage to property due to residual risks.Various risks that CANNOT be eliminated may arise during installation, operation, maintenance and right after stopping the product (for about 30 minutes):- hot metal or electrical parts- rotating and/or mobile parts, even if apparently still- suction hazard (non-ducted fluid intake opening)- fluid leakage hazard (non-ducted fluid pressing opening)

Thermal hazardDue to overheating, the surface of the product may be hot. Pay attention to which areas you touch.In the event of a fire, use carbon dioxide (CO2) extinguishers and, if necessary, use self-priming systems to extinguish fires in closed environments.

Before using the fire-fighting system, cut off the power via the master switch.

Installation conditions and environmental risks

The standard product is not suitable to operate in places that are flammable or explosive; the explosion-proof version (ATEX) is only provided upon request.Make sure that there are no electromagnetic interferences.

The Manufacturer disclaims any liability if the regulations for a correct installa-tion are not respected and is not responsible for the upstream or downstream product systems.When the fan is running and/or accessory equipment represent a potential hazard, which means that it is strictly PROHIBITED to operate it without the ducting and without the due precautions.The orientation of the motor, intake opening and pressing opening, as well as the position of any shutters or accessory equipment must be in line with the Manufacturer's specifications.

Make sure you leave suitable room for manoeuvre around the fan.

The work area must have enough light to ensure working and maintenance in all safety.The lighting must not have dazzling, stress and shadow effects.

At specific speeds the impeller can generate stroboscopic effects, which make the fan look like it is still and might deceive the operator.

The fan and accessory equipment are controlled remotely or via consents of systems that are more complex and not established by the operator. In any case operators must know the exact position of the control devices used to stop the fan and accessory equipment: the STOP and EMERGENCY buttons.

The product was designed in accordance with current energy-saving standards.

Any foreign body not part of the product (e.g. spanners, bolts, screwdrivers, etc.) must be removed before start-up.

The fan may represent a hazard even when it is off: guards, carters, corners, etc. are inevitably exposed, therefore we recommend being careful while accessing the work area and using suitable protective equipment (gloves, shoes, etc.) when handling parts of the product.

Cleaning the work area properly may prevent secondary risks or incidents. Even a small oil leak can repre-sent a hazard and cause slipping or falls.

The Manufacturer is not responsible for the disposal of the product, so the Customer is personally responsible, according to the norms in force in the installation country, for disposing substances potentially dangerous for the environment.N.B. The conditions also apply for other installations.

Maintenance and repairs The fan is fitted with all the guards intended to protect the operator. However, you should always be careful while opening and closing the above-mentioned guards.The carters, grids or fixed guards can only be removed with tools.

The guards or protective devices can only be removed by qualified professionals. Once the intervention has been completed, the technician must restore the original condi-tions.The removal of the guards is only allowed 30 minutes after the power is disconnected.The intake opening (suction) and the outlet opening (deliv-ery) must be adeguately protected, unless this has already been provided for by the Manufacturer.

During maintenance operations make sure no one else can resume the operation of the fan and/or accessory equipment or start them. To ensure this, cut off the power by turning off the master switch and, if possible, lock it with a padlock so that it cannot be unintentionally operated.All maintenance work (routine and unscheduled work) must be carried out with the fan off and the electrical, pneumatic, steam, etc. supply deactivated.To prevent the risk of any accidental activations, place the following warning sign on the electrical panels, control units and control boards: "CAUTION mainte-nance in progress".

The product must only be cleaned with suitable equipment and detergents that do not damage the paintwork and seals. It is strictly forbidden to wash or clean the product with water jets.

Maintenance technicians must report any anomaly or deterioration due to wear or ageing.

Segregation hazardOn large-sized models, persons, animals or objects may remain trapped in the ducting or in the fan itself.

Noise

The noise generated in the test room is usually different from the one detected in the installation site due to the variety and unforeseeable nature of the different systems there may be.

If the noise threshold allowed by the laws of the country where the product is used is exceeded, the Customer must eliminate the causes or protect person-nel with appropriate personal protective equipment (headphones or protective hearing devices), as well as provide preventive information to raise awareness about use and provide for regular hearing tests.

The various standards relating to phonometric measurements in the testing room establish very specific procedures and environmental conditions to measure the sound pressure (LpA).In actual fact, systems are not or cannot always be made in line with these conditions. Often there are operating conditions, accessories, environmental conditions that differ from the ones in the testing room.This causes discrepancies between the sound pressure reported on catalogues or manuals and the values that can be detected on the systems. Here below are some of the causes with the dB (A) sound pressure variation they cause:• actual performance that differs from the one stated in the contract: the discrep-ancy may reach 3 dB(A);• electric motor: the increase of the noise level due to the electric motor is obtained by summing the highest level of noise to the B values in the following table:

Where indicated and/or where there are hoisting points, one can insert the eyebolts to attach a hook (if suitable) or hook shackles.

Only qualified professionals (harness assemblers, crane operators, drivers etc.) can take care of the lifting.

The tools used for lifting (ropes, polyester belts, chains) must be fit to withstand the weight of the product; the ropes must form an opening angle equal to 90° or less.The lifting ropes must not damage the product; if necessary protect it by putting cloths or cardboard in between.

If possible, handle the product from below with forklifts or transpallets.

For the weight values, see your model's specific documentation, which is enclosed or the sales catalogues.

During transport, always check the right load distribution on the ropes and make sure you do not make sharp or sudden moves which may cause dangerous sways.

Avoid using rollers for handling purposes.Never leave the load suspended in the air.

While transporting the product, especially on the road, you should use appropri-ate tools to protect its parts (especially electric ones) from hard blows, humidity, vibrations, etc.During transport, make sure no water penetrates into the motor, bearings and other delicate parts (instruments).

disassembly and cleaning of the parts

We remind you that the packaging elements (wood, nails, cellophane, metallic points, tape etc.) may cause danger.

They must be removed through appropriate tools so that external people (e.g. children) do not come into touch with them. The same is true for the tools used to remove packaging material (scissors, hammers, pincers etc.).

While opening the package, verify the supply integrity and completeness and check that there are no faults or deterioration. If so, immediately stop any op-eration and contact the carrier or the transporter, or inform the Manufacturer.Remove any protective films and clean carefully by using suitable products ac-cording to the surfaces that need to be cleaned.

The handling area must be identified and inspected in the first place, to find possible dangerous spots.

STORAGE ANd wAREHOUSING

If they have been installed before, for storage and warehousing purposes the products (fan, shutter actuators, motors, accessories, etc.) must be disconnected from the mains and left in a closed place, with no dust and a relative humidity below 80%.

If this is not possible, provide for suitable protection from the elements, also for products due to be installed outside, especially for electric and rotating parts (motor, shaft, impeller, bearings, transmission joint, etc.) to prevent condensation, corrosion and dust or sand deposits.

If the product is not used for an extended period of time (more than 1 month), refer to the MAINTENANCE chapter.

In the event of particularly heavy-duty environmental conditions (for instance relative humidity greater than 80%), the rotation of the impeller on the fans must be carried out at least once a week (about 100 revs).

Stacking the products

The fans, products and/or accessories cannot be stacked or placed on top of each other unless previously requested or agreed.

Moreover, provide for a correct earthing connection.N.B. The cross-section of the EARTH cable must not be smaller than that of the conductors of the three phases.

FoundationsPrepare the site of installation and/or any foundations for the machine before installing it.The foundation must preferably be made of reinforced concrete and weigh at least 4 times the weight of the rotating mass (about double the total static weight).If instead the fan is resting on a metal structure, make sure this is suitably stiff.To avoid any resonance, the minimum natural frequency in any point of the metal supporting structure must be 50% higher than the one corresponding to the rotating speed of the fan and motorTo secure the fan to the foundation, remove any wooden feet and install the vibra-tion dampers (if included in the supply). In any case secure the fan by ensuring it is on a level surface with a spirit level.The foundations or the supporting structure must be levelled correctly to prevent harmful vibrations.

For fans with a non-ducted intake opening, the distance (“D”) from the wall must be greater or equal to the diameter of the impeller. If the openings are not ducted, provide for a suitable protective grid (“R”).

Provide for a grid or barrier placed at the necessary safety distance to prevent an involuntary approach to the non-ducted intake and pressing openings of the fan.

Before connecting the power sup-ply cable to the terminal board of the fan, make sure the supply voltage is suitable to the value re-ported on the plate on the motor.

Installation method

The product must be installed with full knowledge of the purpose of the installa-tion and issues related to the operation of the fans, accessory equipment, place and ducting where it will be installed.

Set up signs and barriers stating ''WORK IN PROGRESS'' during installation.The operation must be carried out by qualified personnel and in accordance with this manual.

This manual CANNOT replace insufficient technical expertise of the installers.Position the product in order to always guarantee the minimum space required for maintenance and repairs or any escape routes.

Installation of fan with conduits

The fluid inlet conduits must not have bends near the intake opening; there must be a straight section whose length is at least 3 times the diameter (D) of the impeller.

The conduits must not have elbow bends and the bends near the intake opening must not generate reflux effects.To improve the uniformity of the fluid, we recommend installing special conveying bulkheads.

The fluid delivery or outlet conduits are subjected to the same rules of the inlet conduits.For the delivery conduit there must be a straight section whose length is at least 3 times the diameter (D) of the impeller.On delivery or outlet conduits we recommend ap-plying an elastic joint to avoid the transmission of harmful vibrations. In any case avoid sudden section variations to avoid affecting the performance of the fan,

Installation of fan without conduits

If there are no conduits installed, on the intake open-ing side keep a free distance equal to or greater than the diameter (D) of the impeller.Keep at a safe distance for safety or maintenance also in relation to the kind of transmission.

Preliminary work before activation

Carry out the following checks before start-up:- Read about and take into account any residual risks.- Make sure all the components have been installed correctly.- Make sure the fan and/or accessory equipment is oriented and installed correctly.- Make sure the supply voltage and/or other power supply sources are in place (if there are any).- Perform the wiring of the mains from the master switch to the RST terminal board with cables and sheaths suitable to the motor's power.

Place an appropriate system on the power line to protect from overloads and short circuits; we also recommend protection from excessive undervoltage.Also install a circuit breaker.

- Make sure all the components are clean and have been lubricated.- Make sure the fan's impeller can turn smoothly without touching the fixed parts on the walls.- Make sure the impeller is well-balanced.- Make sure all the guards, protections or grids (if envisaged) have been secured correctly.- Check that there are no unauthorised persons within the working area.- Make sure there are no persons, animals or objects inside the fan or ducting.If there are any dust residues, water or fluids inside the fan, remove them. Usually there is a drain plug in the bottom part of the supporting structure.- Make sure the screws and bolts are tightened correctly.

- Restart the motor and check that the rotation speed and electrical absorption do not exceed the value on the motor's plate when the equipment is fully operational.

After making sure the fan operates correctly, ensure the tem-perature of the fan bearings does not exceed 90°C and that the bearings do not vibrate beyond the contractual limits.

In the event of excessive vibration, due to:- transport;- handling on site;- the quality of the foundations.check:- the quality of the foundations and/or anchoring devices; - the balancing of the impeller (if deemed necessary).

- After about an hour of operation check that all the bolts and screws are blocked. Tighten the bolts and nuts again if necessary.

Pay special attention to the fixing bolts of the monobloc, supports and motor, protections or guards and anti-vibration dampers (if available).

FIRST START-UP

Before starting up the fan, ensure you are fully familiar with the content described earlier and rely on qualified professionals

When the fan is started, it may move unexpectedly, therefore keep at a safe distance.

- Power on the equipment via the master switch and make sure the impeller is turning in the right direction, as shown on the fan's plate.

If the direction of rotation is incorrect, immediately stop the fan.

- Power off the fan and reverse the phases in the terminal board.

CHECKS dURING OPERATION

Temperature and RotationThe fan cannot be operated at a rotation speed or temperature higher than the construction class in the contract.Operation at a lower rpm value requires the authorisation of the Manufacturer to avoid the resonance frequencies typical of low rpm values.We recommend performing field tests to identify the system's frequency. Adjusting the rpm valueThe variation and adjustment of the rpm value must not generate excessive accelerations or decelerations of the impeller.The maximum value allowed is 10 rpm/sec to avoid failures due to excessive stress within a short period of time.In any case fans with an rpm settings undergo greater stress due to the accelera-tions and crossing of frequencies of the various components, which involves a reduction of the life span of the fan itself.

We recommend a full overhaul of the machine every two years and a replacement of the impeller every 0.5 million variations of the rpm.

Operation at high temperature values (>100 °C)Before turning off the fan, operate it with a fluid at a lower temperature until the impeller and the shaft reach a temperature of 90°C to avoid damage to the bearings and deterioration of the lubricant.Operation at a lower rpm value (revs variator) reduces the effect of the cooling fan.A sudden stop (no power supply) involves overheating and an increase in tem-perature of the bearings. Intervene on the outside with an additional jet of air powered by a safe source (compressed air or a small service fan) so that you never exceed 90°C.

Aerodynamic pulsations (stall/pumping)A phenomenon known as stall or pumping occurs under specific conditions of use, typically with an aeraulic circuit with high resistance or with an intake flow rate adjustment system featuring excessive staging (with an opening between 20% and 60%).Under these conditions, the aerodynamic pulsations generate a booming sound that can be easily heard. In this case microscopic vibrations can be seen on the fan and perceived by touching it.

This can be a very dangerous phenomenon and can result in damage to the fan (especially to the impeller) and ducting.

If the phenomenon is caused by excessive resistance of the ducting, modify the system accordingly:If the phenomenon is caused by excessive staging of the intake flow rate, increase the intake opening of the regulator and, if necessary, reduce the flow rate by using an additional shutter on the (outlet) pressing opening of the fan.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

General Conditions

Maintenance and lubrication operations must be carried out by qualified professionals in charge of this service.

Before carrying out any maintenance work, cut off the power via the master switch.

To make sure no one brings the power back on from the various sources of energy (steam, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic, before starting operations the maintenance technician must lock the master switch with a padlock.Before performing any maintenance, install signal boards near the general switch to indicate that the machine is stopped due to maintenance.

Make sure the amounts and/or types of lubricants used match the indicated ones. Never mix lubricants of a different quality or brand.

Prolonged warehousing, even if performed correctly, re-duces the lubricating power of the grease or oil, which must be replaced every two years.

For cleaning do NOT use stringy clothes or products which may pollute or alter the lubricant characteristics.

The product must only be cleaned with appropriate equip-ment and detergents which do not damage the paintwork and seals. It is strictly forbidden to wash or clean the product with water jets.

Avoid any makeshift repair, all repairs must be done only using original spare parts.

If difficulties or anomalies arise that you are not able to solve autonomously, do not make any risky attempt of repair! In this case you must inform the Manufacturer's technical assistance centre.

Always use personal protective equipment provided by the employer (headphones or protective hearing devices, gloves, goggles, etc.).

The maintenance technician must immediately report any fault: anomalous leak-age, abrasion, fraying, vibrations and overheating, etc.Do NOT operate the product if problems of any kind arise and restore normal conditions or make sure that others take care of that.The Manufacturer disclaims any liability if the maintenance cycles indicated in this manual or in the attached documents are not properly respected, if main-tenance is performed by unqualified personnel or if the lubricants used and the procedures followed are not compatible with those indicated.

ALARM: if the level of vibrations exceeds the threshold for a period of time higher than the specified time out (see above table for details), an alarm signal must be send and analysed. Unscheduled maintenance is required. The fan can keep on operating, but pay special care. The operating condition must be notes down and analysed in order to prevent any failure or damage.STOP: exceeding this limit affects the safety of the fan. PAUSE OR ALTERNATEd OPERATION

Steps required for prolonged pauses

For some steps refer to the previous chapters in the manual and follow the instructions reported in the procedures.

In the event of prolonged pauses or storage (more than 3 months) of the fan, protect it with suitable packaging. Namely, if the intake and pressing openings are not ducted close them with a protective sheet to prevent dust, foreign bodies, animals, etc. from going inside it.f the fans are stored outside, carry out inspections and maintenance on them periodically (max every 10 days) to stop and find a solution to the onset of cor-rosion or deterioration of the components. For prolonged pauses, we recommend checking the balancing of the impeller.Turn the impeller manually every month (1approx. 100 turns) to avoid oxidation of the bearings due to contact.In the event of particularly heavy-duty environmental conditions (for instance relative humidity greater than 80%), the rotation of the impeller must be carried out once a week.

Grease components as requiredIntroduce the new grease through the lubrication devices once a month

Prolonged warehousing, even if performed correctly, re-duces the lubricating power of the grease or oil, which must be replaced every two years.

Steps required for alternated operation (stand-by)

If the fan operates at intervals, e.g. pair of fans installed and used with alternated operation (main fan/stand-by fan), we recommend limiting stand-by times to no more than 10 days.To avoid reaching the end of the life span of parts subject to wear in the same period of time, we recommend a distributed duration of use with 60% main fan – 40% stand-by fan. In the event of particularly severe climatic conditions (e.g. humidity greater than 80%), the impeller must be rotated manually every week.

dISPOSAL ANd dISMANTLING

If possible, at the time of dismantling, save components in good state so that they can be reused.Waste must be collected in designated containers with a label and disposed of according to local regulations in force by resorting to special waste disposal companies.

The Manufacturer will not be responsible for any damage to the environment or for the systems used to dispose of the materials: electrical parts, motors, cables, lubricants or anything else must be disposed of according to the law.Warning: It is strictly prohibited to dispose of toxic waste in drains or in rainwater conduits.

Discarded material with no certification can be disposed of automatically by resorting to special landfills.

Ensure the product is harmless when disposed of

To do this, proceed as follows:- Disconnect the supply lines: electric line, pneumatic line, steam supply, etc.- Empty tanks and components containing harmful substances.- Remove any pressured containers, ensuring they are harmless.- Eliminate accumulated voltage and/or residual energy- Separate and dispose of the different types of material of the product parts in special landfills.

TROUbLESHOOTING

Problems, causes and solutionsPRObLEM CAUSE SOLUTION

Vibrations Lack of balance on the impeller. Check and remove any dust or other material on the impeller.Check for any erosion or corrosion of the impeller. If this is seriously damaged it must be replaced.Restore the balance of the impeller.

Unsuitable foundation. Strengthen the structure or alternate the natural resonance frequency, for instance by adding weights.

Loosening of the foundation bolts or fix-ing of the supports and guards.

Fully tighten the bolts according to the “Table: Tightening torque of bolts and nuts".

Head screw blocking the loosened impeller.

Fully tighten and make sure the impeller is in the right position.

Impeller rotating in the wrong direction. Make sure the direction of rotation of the impeller is correct, as shown by the arrow on the fan's plate.

Vibrations transmitted to the system's fan by other machines or supporting structures.

Check the system the fan is connected to. Install vibration dampers and elastic joints or bellows between the fan and the conduits.

Use of the fan at rotation speed values that are higher than the intended one

Use the fan within the limits imposed by the structural class envisioned in the contract. Contact the Manufacturer if you have differ-ent needs.

Use of the fan at rotation speed values that are lower than the intended one near the system's resonance frequency.

Change the number of revs of the fan based on the instructions provided by the Manu-facturer.

Bearing failure Replace the damaged bearing

Fan operation at reduced or no flow rate, generally at full pressure.The fan is operating in the stall area of the operating curve. This may be due to the following:- accidental closure of shutters on the system or the fan- excessive staging of the intake flow rate (between 20% and 60% of the opening)

Increase the opening of the intake regulator and, if necessary, operate on another shutter on the pressing opening (outlet) of the fan.

Resistance of the circuit greater than the intended one:- obstruction or poor connection at the intake with unsteady air inlet conditions;- alternated detachment and re-con-nection of the fluid line to the walls of a diverging conduit.

Check the play and tolerance values between the static parts and rotating parts and tighten the bolts and nuts.

Damaged or unbalanced impeller Check and restore balancing.Replace the impeller.

Overheatingof the bearings

Worn bearings. Replace the bearings or the motor.Incorrect lubrication. Check the kind of lubricant used as specified

in the Manual.Excessive greasing. Remove excess grease.Fluid temperature greater thanthe intended ones and overheating with fire hazard.

Make sure the fan processes fluids whose maximum temperature is lower than the one reported on the fan's plate.

Bearing undergoing a heat bath from equipment not part of the supply: an oven or dryer after switch-off. This happens when the fan is not operat-ing and the cooling fan cannot cool the bearing.

To cool the fan shaft and protect the bear-ing, operate the fan for enough time to lower the temperature values of the fluid under 100°C after the external equipment has been switched off.

Insufficientair flow rate

Fan rotating in the wrong direction. Make sure the direction of rotation of the impeller is correct, as shown by the arrow on the fan's plate.

Sudden changes of direction in the con-duit near the fan drain or pre-rotation of the fluid caused by the elbow conduit at the inlet.

Ensure the fan and ducting have been in-stalled correctly.

The intake flow rate regulator has not been installed correctly.

Make sure the flow rate regulator is installed with the air intake directed in the direction of rotation of the impeller when partially closed.

Power absorbed by the fan unexpect-edly low.

Correct the following conditions:- pre-rotation of the fluid in the fan's inlet opening;- resistance to the flow of the fluid higher than the calculated value (e.g. closed shutter).

Performance with excessive flow rate

Power absorbed by the fan unexpect-edly high.

In general, make sure the fan speed is not too high.

The fan is processing the air in the room, while it was designed for hot air or less dense air.

Restore the right field of application for which the fan was designed.

Excessive estimate of the pressure drops.

Slow down the rotation speed of the fan or partially close the shutters.

Support and Requests for spare parts

All services involved in support and requests for space parts are managed by the SERVICE centres of the Manufacturer or an agent appointed by the latter, as specified on the cover of this manual.

Only use original spare parts to benefit from the warranty conditions. We recommend always having a series of bearings in stock.

To request spare parts, report all the available data located on the plates or on the components:- Machine model- Serial number and year of manufacture- Description of the part- Desired amount- For electrical material specify the voltage (Volt) and frequency (Hz).

Predictive maintenance

Predictive maintenance is a kind of preventive maintenance that can be carried out by the Manufacturer upon request. It consists in calculating and checking the residual time or efficiency of the components based on the data detected after a certain operating time of the product.The following issues usually arise during use:- the components are affected by wear, thereby increasing their friction. They produce more heat, noise or vibrations;- the electric cables are loosened due to vibrations and as a result produce Joules, short circuits and overheating;- due to the effect of vibrations, the bolts are loosened and as a result noise levels increase; - the lubricants dry or evaporate, thereby not performing their function properly.

The Manufacturer can intervene upon requests with an analysis of the product to prevent any anomalies or failures.

To make the diagnostic easier, while the product is operating the Client must note down maintenance work and/or problems detected (see “Table: Work performed”).

ObLIGATIONS ANd LIAbILITy

The ENCLOSED documentation is intede for qualified professionals.

The information in the manual is partly taken from different suppliers' original documents.

Before activating and using the product, check if all the enclosed documents required for its installation, operation and maintenance are in place.
