Please CALL the office and leave a record-

ed message for Mrs. Despins if your child

will be absent or late. It is very important

that every student is accounted for when

marked away and Mrs. Despins will be

calling if she has not heard from you.

She needs to know where your student is

for safety reasons.

Congratulations to Georgia Griffin,

grade 8. For winning the Knights

of Columbus Free Throw in her

age category.

As Mr. Melnyk, our teacher sponsor and cheering squad front man, wrote, “this unstoppable upwardly mobile team has come

from very humble beginnings back in November.” The girls' improvement individually and as a team has been outstanding,

especially in the last few weeks.

The Junior Lady Mustangs were ranked #3 after regular season play one week ago. They were defeated handily twice by GESS

earlier in the season. But last night, in the final, our full court press and ruthless drive to the hoop proved to be too much for

our shocked opponents to handle. The girls went up 8-0 at the beginning of the game and led on the scoreboard throughout

every quarter.

Earlier in the week, the Mustangs beat #2 ranked Heritage Christian School 60-18 to advance to the league final last night.

Both of their final two games are a testa-

ment to the practice and hard work each

of these ladies brought to recent practic-

es. We couldn't be more proud of how

hard they worked to achieve this

goal! We look forward to what this group

of young ladies will bring to the senior

level in the years ahead!

Congratulations Jenna, Tia, Kat, Flora,

Grace, Damia, Mikaela, Kyra, Jordan,

and Charlene on your underdog win last

night and on a fantastic season!

A huge thanks goes to Mr. Melnyk and

Mr. Boreham for their support through-

out the season, and to the parents, stu-

dents, and staff who came out to cheer

the girls on last night!

Your loud and proud coaches,

Mrs. Drebit and Mrs. Cocar

Science Fair Judges Needed!

On Tuesday, February 13, from 1:00-

2:45pm in our school gym, the grade 9 sci-

ence classes will hold their annual science

fair. This is a wonderful display of learning,

in which each student embarked on their

own inquiry project, researched, tested, and

analyzed the results, and are now ready to

show off what they discovered!

I am in need of judges for this event. No ex-

perience required! Moms, dads, aunts and

uncles, friends of the family, and grandparents…

Please contact Angela Griffin at [email protected] as soon as possible. Even if you can spare ½

hour it would be appreciated!

Thanks for your support!

Angela Griffin

5 SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE!!!

Any interested students for the Spain exchange for next

on the list.

After applying for the program, we match to find the best

partner from Castilla Y Leon region in Spain (far away from

the Barcelona political difficulties). You host this student

in Sept/October and then travel to Spain the first week in

March and return the last week in April (roughly 7 weeks).

This is the best possible way to learn Spanish, experi-

ence another culture and explore the world.
