Has the Chinese curse “may you live in interesting times” ever been more apt? From Brexitto Trump, from trade wars to proxy wars, from financial crises to debt crises, the number andseverity of threats around the world seem to be coming thick and fast.

Unsurprisingly, the demand for speakers to try to make sense of this uncertainty, and evenshow how to benefit from them, continues apace. Whether it’s an economist to decipher thefinancial implications, a political expert to read the ruins, or even a futurist to help you planfurther ahead, we can help with a range of experts on hand.

A successful motivational speaker will inspire and galvanise an audience, yet be approachableenough for them to be able to empathise. They will have achieved great things, but they need toensure that the audience is left believing they too can achieve greatness.

Motivational

A common theme to have developed over the last 18 months or so, among both audiences andspeakers alike, is that of resilience and how you overcome adversity. While it has often been athread in many speeches, it seems to have become a theme of its own, with people looking atboth the physical and mental aspects. Here are just a selection of people who have tailored theirpresentations accordingly:

Resilience

maritime experience), James Whittle &Tom Caulfield “The Tempest Two” have

become full-time adventurers. Theybelieve their biggest strength is that

they are fairly rubbish at mostthings! They take on challenges

around the world to show thatordinary people can achieve

the extraordinary.

The Future

Dr Leyla Acaroglu.Leyla has become the thought leader insustainability and design. Her talks and

workshops are often described as 'mindblowing', weaving fascinating examples that

equip people with the thinking tools tocreate their own change in the world, as

witnessed by over 1.4m who havewatched her TED Talk.

Roger Harrabin.Roger has been reporting on the

environment and climate change for over 30years - in fact, he started long before it hadentered general consciousness. Along the

way he has reported from around the world, interviewing all manner of antagonists and

helped bring it to a broader audience.

Sustainability

Ade McCormack.Ade helps organisations and their people thrive inthe digital age. As the world lumbers towards an

increasingly uncertain future, his messagesresonate with all people who are concerned about

their future economic relevance, embracingmacroeconomics, technology, anthropology,

biology and human performance.

Dr Eliza Filby.Eliza has written two books

on milliennials, thegeneration who came of age

at the turn of the century. She talks authoritatively on

what this particular groupwant and expects as both

employees and consumers. She also blows away many

of the myths surroundingthis often mocked and

misunderstood generation.

Benita Matofska.Benita is a visionary change-maker, founder of

charity The People Who Share and a leadingkeynote speaker on the sharing economy. She

is the author of Generation Share, a seminalbook telling the awe-inspiring stories of the

change-makers behind the Sharing Economy.

Even before Greta Thunberg’s impassioned appeal, andDavid Attenborough’s Blue Planet, sustainability hadbecome a key topic for business. Following the successof the plastic bag levy in the UK and increasedawareness of everything from plastics in the oceans tothe recyclability of coffee cups, both consumers andemployees are expecting responsible behaviour fromorganisations, and never more so than among themillennial generation.

Richard Watson.Richard’s latest tome, Digital vs Human, deals withthe way we interface with technology. Unlike manyof the doomsayers, he is upbeat and is convincedthe jobs and roles lost to machine learning and AI

will more than be replaced with creative and, ultimately, more fulfilling roles. All is not lost!

Jim Lawless. When faced with waves of change, a speaker

who specialises in the neuroscience andphysiology of fear is a popular choice. A mainstay

at events for nearly two decades, Jim helpspeople not just cope with fear, but embrace it

and let it enhance their lives…and he can prove itwith world records to his name.

In such uncertain times, it’s no surprise clients are constantly after people who can talk aboutthe future. What is the future of work? What role will technology play? Will we becomesubservient to it, or will it enhance our lives and free up our creativity?! Are the professionalclasses now facing the challenges that manual labour went through with mechanisation.
