Happy New Year!
Fall flew right by, we had 100 members attend our
Christmas party and plenty of food. Special thanks to
all that brought a dish. Karen, Lettie, Margaret Beverly
and Dee make everything come together in the kitchen
Bless them. Angel Food Catered the basics Kellers do-
nated the dinner rolls and the quilters
added ham & beef to the menu DELICIOUS!
We would like to give a special thanks to Give Back
Committee (Karen, Lettie and Dee) for a the pajama
drive for Cedar Woods residents. Thanks to all in our
community who donated. Thanks to all who donated
socks for the annual RSVP sock drive.
For this quarter, we are planning the annual Black History Celebration, a Pistons Game, TYLER PERRYS
MADEA'S FAREWELL AT THE FOX IN APRIL. And a spring Rummage Treasure sale Friday &
Saturday April.
MI Bridges can help you to access more than 30,000state and local services across the state just ask Bonnie Rish or Maryann for more info. If you have any trip ideas or any suggestions there are 2 boxes at the center one in the sen-ior kitchen and one outside the back office. Be Safe!

The Senior Transportation Program reserves
the right to make changes in the program at
any time to accommodate the needs of the
group.
The Senior Transportation Program re-
serves the right to cancel rides in the event of
inclement weather, mechanical problems or
any other reason that may affect the safety of
riders.
If any of the four school districts are closed
our transportation is closed.
Airport, Huron, Lincoln, Van Buren schools.
Riders are expected to conduct themselves in
a manner that is considerate and courteous
of the driver and other riders.
All bus passengers must exit the bus upon
destination arrival. Please plan on walking,

OUR MISSION
To educate, counsel, and empower Michigan’s older adults, individuals living disabilities, and those who serve
them, so that they can make informed health benefit decisions. Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP)
is a free service that can help you make health benefit decisions. MMAP Volunteer Counselors are trained and
certified in Medicare, and Medicaid health, benefits, and fraud counseling. Counselors are not connected with
any insurance company and are not licensed to sell insurance.
A MMAP/SMP counselor can help you:
Understand Medicare and Medicaid
Compare or enroll in Medicare Health Plans and Prescription Drug Coverage
Review Medicare Supplemental Plans
Apply for the Extra Help Program
This program helps with the cost of Medicare Part D

FRIENDLY REASSURANCE
The Telephone Reassurance Program is designed to help homebound individuals age 60 and older remain independ-
ent in their own homes for as long as possible by providing reassuring telephone calls, social support and safety
checks. This program hopes to reduce isolation and help recipients feel safer and more connected to their community.
Program Services
A brief, daily telephone call to a homebound individual
The call is placed at a prearranged time each day
Calls are made up to five days a week, Monday through Friday
Calls are made by friendly, trained staff
This service is offered at no cost
If the recipient does not answer the phone, a procedure of safety checks is followed
Participant Information
Recipients must be temporarily or permanently homebound
Recipients must be age 60 or older
Recipients must agree to program guidelines

INFORMATION Need information or assistance for an Older Adult?
Call the Senior Alliance at 800-815-1112 to speak with an Information Services Spe-
cialist. Specialists are available to answer your questions Monday through Friday
from 8:30 am–4:30 pm.
The Information and Assistance Call Center is a free service offering resource options for older
adults, their families and caregivers. The call center staff can discuss the Senior Alliance programs
and services and connect you to the many programs and services available in the 34 communities
that make up the Senior Alliance service area.
Some of the common resource requests are:

Medicare/Medicaid assistance
Housing options
Nutrition programs
Legal assistance
Long-term care advocacy
Care transition services
Health and wellness programs
Information specialists will listen, work with you to assess your need(s) and provide the most accu-
rate information and referrals currently available. Depending on the type of request, the Infor-
mation Specialist may have to ask for demographic information, such as name, address, phone
number and date of birth. When determining eligibility for specific programs such as the MI Choice
Waiver program, additional information will be required concerning income, assets and the level of
care needed. To obtain information and assistance outside of the Senior Alliance service area, the Eldercare Locator can connect you to your local Area Agency on Aging. Call 1-800-677-1116 between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm Eastern Time or go to www.eldercare.gov to obtain agency information.

HOME DELIVERED MEALS
Homebound senior citizens aged 60 and older may be eligible to receive hot home delivered meals Monday through
Friday. The suggested donation for meals is $3.00 per meal.
Eligibility Criteria Age 60 years or older, Homebound - unable to leave their house unassisted, Reside in one of the
34 communities of western Wayne County, or Downriver areas
ELIGIBLE CLIENTS MAY ONLY RECEIVE A HOT OR LIQUID MEAL-NOT BOTH.
