Job Responsibilities as Welding /Piping Inspector: General Review of the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) as
per specifications and standards for different materials. Witness the Welder Qualification Test as per ASME SEC IX, AWS D 1.1, API 1104. Witness the destructive testing for welding procedures according to ASME SEC. IX. Review the QA/QC procedures, Quality Plan as per project specification and standards. Material inspections and verifications with MTC certificates and project specifications such like pipes,
flanges, fittings and welding electrodes/filler wires. Coordination with NDT group for carrying-out of non-destructive testing. Checking the material is in accordance with drawing / WPS and in suitable condition Checking the WPSs have been approved and are available to welders. Inspecting the welding equipment is in suitable condition and calibrated Checking all welder certificates are valid Checking the welding consumables those to be used are as specified by the WPS are being stored /
controlled as specified by the QC Procedure Checking weld faces are free from defects, contamination and damage. Checking preheat is in accordance with WPS. Checking maximum temperature or interpass temperature is in accordance with WPS. Checking root run is visually acceptable to code before filling the joint. Checking interrun cleaning is to good workman ship. Ensuring each weld is marked with the welder’s identification and identified in accordance with the
drawing /weld map. Checking dimensions are in accordance with Drawing/Code Ensure all NDT is complete and available for records; Monitoring repairs are in accordance with the Procedure. Ensure test equipment is calibrated. Ensure all reports/records are completed and collated as required
