delicious, low calorie, meal replacing smoothies and green tea with aloe from the smoothie bar, located in the Performance Center.

Dining Services made delicious street tacos, with beef or chicken. There were also chips and salsas and a churro table with a variety of toppings for dessert. More than 350 people were served lunch.

The Performance Center was open and Beta testers demonstrated the machinery while people toured the area. Steve Heller was in the Performance Center answering questions. One visitor commented that he had expected a lot more work out equipment but Steve explained that equipment isn’t needed to improve fall

prevention, mobility and increase core body strength. He shared that when he trained professional athletes, he didn’t use weight lifting equipment, but that they were taught how to use their body weight and movement to increase their strength and those same principles were

being used here. Currently there are more than 100 Beta testers working out 2-3 times a week and noticing overall improvements. (Please see the ZoeLife magazine, available in the Performance Center, for actual Beta test results and testimonials.)

On Thursday, April 25th, the Glencroft campus was filled with excitement and activity as Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers greeted residents, visitors and staff to the Center for Modern Aging Expo. The Mayor c o m m e n d e d Glencroft on its sustained high

occupancy rate. He said, “I consider you my own residents too. You are part of my community!” He released balloons into the air to celebrate the Center for Modern Aging Expo.

We were excited to see a large number of visitors on our campus. Glencroft residents invited friends and family to the Expo and to see Glencroft first hand.

There were more than 24 vendors representing a variety of providers and each had tickets for a raffle prize. In addition to the vendors, a number of Glencroft’s staff provided samples of Zoe foods; the roasted sweet potato salad and the fresh pineapple and cucumber salad. There were also samples of the

Annual Meeting

Have You Met... Johnny Medina

Visitors and Residents were free to check out the University/Movement Room and the Clinic areas too. When asked about the lecture schedule, Steve explained that a wide variety of presenters from a broad range of vocations offer their expertise during the class times. Each lecture falls under one of the 6 core pillars: spiritual, emotional, physical, social, intellectual or vocational. Most of the lectures are not “straight lectures” per se, but are in a workshop format or participatory in nature.

Talking to a variety of visitors, these are some of the comments that were made: “I’m looking for a social place with an educational component.” “The staff and resident interactions are the difference you can see and feel.” “This place feels different, a warmer atmosphere than the nicer looking place across the street” “The campus is a lot more than I expected. I’m interested in the ZoeLife program.”

John Wenzlau, Center for Modern Aging CEO, said he felt that the Expo "was a positive experience for all".

Born in Compton, CA Johnny moved to Arizona in 1970. He is married to Shannon and they enjoy col-lecting mid-century modern furniture. In addition, Johnny collects vintage receiver modes; radios, turntables etc. He is also interested in health related things.

Johnny is often asked where he gets his energy and positive attitude. His reply, “It comes from my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit keeps me full!”

In The National Leadership Summit of The National Day of Prayer, 300 leaders gathered in Arkansas to advance a strategy of prayer for America. With every state represented, Dr. Ronnie Floyd, National Day or Prayer President, unveiled the theme — “Love One Another” — for the 2019 National Day of Prayer. The theme comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.”

The Community of Faith will be holding a National Day of Prayer Service in the Auditorium at 10:00am on Thursday, May 2. It will include a short meditation, special music by the Glencroft Singers and brief prayers from Glencroft staff and residents. They will be praying for the following eight areas of concern: Government, Family, Church, Business, Glencroft, Media, Military and Education. All are invited to join and pray for our nation and government on May 2.

If you are a Beta test participant, weekly classes are available for both new and continuing partici-pants. They are facilitated by our campus dietitian Barb Cunningham.

In the first 6 weeks of the ZoeLife program, you will learn a simple eating strategy that could contribute to the reduction of chronic disease, promote brain health and increase longevity. The weekly meetings are approximately 45 minutes in length and designed to inform and encourage your full participation in the ZoeLife program. In May the new Beta test group will be assigned a class to attend, so check your schedule.

ZoeLife Alumni have the opportunity to participate in a 6-week course on habits. The course focuses on strategies to building better habits in your life with an emphasis on health and wellness. Barb uses the concept of making small gains daily, which compound into ultimate success with your new healthy lifestyle. Check with Steve or Arlene in the Performance Center for the day and time and sign up to attend.

“What a joy and privilege to know Bea Bempke. She is one of the most gracious women I know. Bea sings in the Glencroft Singers and is always the first one to assist. Even with her struggle to see, she is always cheerful and full of joy. She loves the Lord, and He shines through her daily. She loves life and participates in all the events at Glencroft. Her wild colored socks and hats are her hallmark.

“Thank you Bea for sharing your story. You are loved.” ~Mim Rudd, Minister of Music Community of Faith

After two major eye surgeries, one November 8, 2018, and another December 5, 2018, I too want to see clearly.

What I have already discovered during my long recovery; 3-6 months or more, is what I am already seeing.

I have always been grateful and have always thanked God for the gift of sight, also for the other four senses.

Lord, I want to seeWhat I am really seeing now is the love and caring God is giving me.

I see now that prayers are a true form of action. I am so thankful for all the prayers from all the missionaries and friends. Prayers are the catalyst for action. I have been blessed many times over.

He has blessed me with great neighbors and friends who really love me and care for me and my dog Rika. They show their love through action, driving me to doctor appointments and to Walgreens.

I am not just noticing but really seeing how God has gifted my two surgeons and steadied their hands.

I am seeing the world with new eyes, well, one new cornea at least.

I see my little spot on earth, Glencroft, as a great place to be.

Thank you, sweet Jesus.
