Canada Day was celebrated in Coronation Park by the Marian Council “Coffee” Clutch/ Senators with a social distancing coffee circle and the singing of “O Canada”. While there was applause for the anthem none of the crew were signed up for a record deal! Thanks to organiser Br.Leo Topolniski who had the circle of friends get together to mark the occasion and catch up on missed opportunities since the council lounge remains closed. Next get together is every Wednesday at 9am. Limit to 10 people per social circle. Bring a chair and coffee! Thick Skin also an attribute!

Financial Update

Revenue, derived from Hall rentals, has been severely impacted by having to close the hall due to COVID-19. Our financial situation is quite poor. The OCA is reviewing all available Government Programs. We have taken advantage of the Wage Subsidy Program and the Canada Emergency Business Account Loan of $40,000. While the loan is $40,000, $30,000 must be repaid by December 31, 2022. The balance of $10,000 does not need to be repaid and has been included as revenue. Our situation is even more challenging as we have repairs and maintenance items needing our attention. Two committees have been formed and charged with identifying required repairs to the hall, the cost, the timing, funding alternatives and the property value. A detailed report will be provided to you in the Fall.

The following is an overview of our finances since the outbreak began.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

NOVENA FOR LIFE Over the past few months, with the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic, a number of life events were cancelled including the March for Life in Ottawa and a 40 Days for Life mass with Bishop Crosby on March 18th. A Novena for Life that was being planned occurred virtually. Halton Alive which is focused on education, support, and dialogue has continued during this period in providing online webinars and video meetings. Attached is a link to the Gospel of Life that each of us can pray for life.http://www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/encyclicals/documents/hf_jp-ii_enc_25031995_evangelium-vitae.html This fall, with restrictions easing, we hope that we in the future hold a mass or group life event in our area. The 40 Days for Life fall campaign is set for September 23rd to November 1st. [email protected] 905-844-2630

PRAYER TO MARY DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, health of the sick, who at the cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. do not despise our please – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
