professors, students andMarianist Religious (Brothersand Sisters) go on Wednesdaynights to the streets takingfood and providing companyto those who are experiencinghomelessness/living on thestreets. The route is from theedge of the Barros LucoHospital, to the central region,and the Franklinneighborhood. In Chile there are 12,255people experiencinghomelessness that live in thestreets. Their reasons forbeing on the street vary,some have lost a loved one,some are divorced orseparated, some have lostjobs, some have lost theirhomes etc. It is clear thatthey have lost someconnection in their familiywhich therefore extends tosociety at large. The school is able toparticipate in this socialjustice action because of theparticipation of parents andstudents: each course requiresstudents to sign up 1­2 timesper year to help collectingredients, prepare the food,distribute it in the street andwash the dishes and potsafterwards.

In the process of the fooddistribution, the volunteersspeak with care and respect tothose who might otherwisehave been called derogatorynames on the streets. Onspecial dates such as thecelebration of independenceday, Christmas, and solidarityday, efforts are made to finda way for the peopleexperiencing homelessness tocome to the school be servedfrom a table, accompanied byfestive dances and songs, thepeople experiencinghomelessness come to feel asthough they are the kings andqueens of the party.

Many people are mobilized tohelp celebrate these ocasions.This action of social justice iscoordinated by Sr. LeticiaFlores (FMI) who is in charge

En Chile existen 12.255 personasindigentes viviendo en la calle,los motivos son diversos: muertede un ser querido, rupturamatrimonial, pérdida de trabajo,de casa, etc. En definitiva,cuando ha perdido los vínculoscon su propia familia y tambiéncon la sociedad.

El colegio asume esta acciónsolidaria a través de los padres yalumnos: pidiendo a cada cursoanotarse una o dos veces al añoaportando los alimentos, lapreparación de la comida, larepartición en la calle y el lavadode fondos de ollas. En eltrayecto, se conversa con laspersonas a las que les llaman"los tatas de la calle" en formacariñosa.

En fechas especiales comofiestas patrias, navidad y día dela solidaridad se les va a buscaren vehículo y se les atiende en elcolegio, servidos a la mesa y concantos y bailes dedicados paraellos, se sienten los reyes de lafiesta. Es bastante gente la quese moviliza para la ocasión.

Esta acción solidaria escoordinada por la hermanaLeticia Flores (FMI), encargadade la pastoral social del colegio.

Au Chili il existe 12 255personnes indigentesvivant dans la rue, pourdivers motifs: mort d'unêtre cher, rupturematrimoniale, chômage,perte de logement etc...En définitive, ceux quiperdent les liens avec lafamille et la société.

Le collège assume cetteaction solidaire avec lesparents d'élèves et lesélèves. On demande àchaque classe de se noterune ou deux fois l'an, dese préoccuper de trouverles aliments, de préparerles repas, de se répartirdans la rue et de lavercorrectement lesmarmites. Sur le trajet,on échange avec lespersonnes que nousappelons les "tatas de larue" terme affectueux.

A des dates particulières,par exemple, les fêtes dela nation, de Noël ou lafête de la solidarité, on vales chercher en voiture,on s'occupe d'elles aucollège, on les sert àtable, et avec des chantset des danses on les rendrois d'un jour.
