The Lyric Lounge is a vibrant spoken word festival bringing international artists to share the stage with participants and local performers in a spectacular celebration of lyrical prose, music and rhyme.

Travelling around the region from Leicester to Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough, Northamptonshire and Rutland - The Lyric Lounge arrives in Lincoln on Saturday 27 August when the Lounge will be open from 11am for lyrical festivities.

Work on your writing skills with workshops from top class poets and performers. Get up on the open mic - � rst timers welcome.

Lyric Lounge Lincolnshire is part of ‘Igniting Ambition’, the East Midlands’ contribution to the Cultural Olympiad. The Lyric Lounge is a Writing East Midlands project. It has been artistically developed by Lydia Towsey. Lyric Lounge Lincolnshire is curated and delivered by cultural solutions UK. It is supported by MLA Renaissance, Arts Council England, Igniting Ambition, Legacy Trust UK and Lincolnshire County Council.

Day events are freeThe Room Upstairs 11-1pm - Join artist Marion Sander for a carnival inspired mask making workshop.

2 - 3.30pm - Write your own material with poet Michael Brome (aka Sureshot) and then stay and perform at the open mic session!

Cafe Bar11am - Charity Shop DJ Come and � ick through a selection of old vinyl. Look at them, select them, reminisce and have your choices played.

12noon - Pennyless - harmony songs, Irish jigs and American Old Timey.

12.30 - Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, Lyric Lounge Patron introduces and performs.

1pm Spoken word artist Michael Brome (aka Sureshot)1.30pm Pennyless - harmony songs, Irish jigs and American Old Timey.

2pm Charity Shop DJ4pm Lyrical Teatime - performance poetry open mic session hosted by Michael Brome and Steve Cawte (Writers Collective).

Tongue Fu is all about risk taking and spontaneity. This is the chance for poets and rappers to take the leap into the unknown and perform with leading musicians!
