Luviquat Sensation is a high performance conditioning polymer for rinse-off applications.
In shampoos, Luviquat Sensation provides excellent wet and dry hair benefi ts without the use
of silicones.
Luviquat Sensation opens a new dimension in conditioning. Despite its high cationic charge
density, Luviquat Sensation can be formulated with a broad variety of anionic surfactants. The high
charge density ensures that damaged hair receives the exact amount of conditioner it needs to
repair and revitalize itself. An extremely thin structure is formed without causing buildup, making
the hair feel soft and natural. Depending on the usage concentration, hair volume can be effectively
controlled and frizz is signifi cantly reduced. Moreover, stylability and coloring behavior improve.
Luviquat Sensation is delivered in an aqueous solution, which makes it easy to formulate and to
process. No pre-swelling or emulsifi cation is needed.
More fl exibility and less complexity offer a new degree of freedom for formulating shampoos.

More than ever, hair is exposed to oxidative stress both from hair coloring habits and environmental
factors. Thus, the bar is raised as consumers expect much more from a hair care product.
Luviquat Sensation can help you to meet these expectations. An intelligent repair mechanism ensures
excellent wet and dry combability.
Luviquat Sensation offers best in class wet combing benefits at concentrations as low as 0.2 wt. %. (Shampoo based on SLES and CAPB, wet bleached Caucasian hair)
Excellent Combability
Atomic force microscopy measurements revealed that Luviquat Sensation forms an extremely thin
patch network on the hair’s surface where it reduces the friction of the hair fi bers. Its thickness is
around 10 to 20 nm only. This implies very little weight so that volume can be preserved.

Consumer Test Results on Caucasian Hair

Luviquat Sensation shampoos such as concept formulation “Refreshingly Light” show performance attributes that appeal to consumers with Caucasian hair.In a panel test, the majority rated the Luviquat Sensation shampoo equal or better than the silicon-based control.(33 consumers with Caucasian hair; Concept Formulation with 0.2 % Luviquat Sensation (cf. p. 6) vs. 0.2 % GHPTC and 1 % dimethiconol)
Asian hair swatches were treated with a branded market shampoo claiming strong conditioning benefi ts. On the right example, 0.2 % Luviquat Sensation was added to this shampoo.
A lightweight conditioning system that preserves volume is crucial, especially for consumers with
fi ne hair. At the same time, consumers with thicker hair want to control volume.
Luviquat Sensation allows both by adjusting the use concentration. In addition, Luviquat Sensation
provides visible anti-frizz benefi ts.

Luviquat Sensation shampoos such as concept formulation “Sensationally Soft” show performance attributes that appeal to consumers with Asian hair. In a panel test, the majority rated the Luviquat Sensation shampoo equal or better than the silicon-based control.(15 consumers with Asian hair; Concept Formulation with 0.5 % Luviquat Sensation vs. 0.2 % GHPTC and 2 % dimethiconol)
In comparison to GHTPC/silicone combinations, the graph shows Luviquat Sensation is more easily washed out with no long term buildup observed.
Hair care does not stop at washing the hair. Luviquat Sensation shampoos also improve styling
results. In addition, Luviquat Sensation features easy wash-out, which helps to avoid build-up and
ensures maximum fl exibility.

Manufacturing: Mix phase A. Add components of phase B one after the other and stir until they have dissolved completely. Add phase C and stir again.
