For the past year Mrs. Thomu3 Winn (or Florence Winn as she is professional known)_ has been away from Altamont, living in Oregon, traveling through the West and as always painting busily. She returned with many outstanding acrylics and oils and is currently having a one-man show at the Bethlehem Public Library. Her landscape - grand as ever, always wide in scope - include the sweeps of Wyoming, Teton Mountain Range ruggedness, vast plains of waving wheat. She also shows our own Helderberg Mountains,'a charm: ing Cape Cod beach as well as "samples of the Western way." A new facet to Mrs. Winn's painting character is emphasized with two ani· mal paintings. One of a favorite pack mule serenely grazing in a luminous green field is causing much favorable comment. The other of two very friendly hippopatami is equally charming and when asked why she had chosen them to paint, she confided it was a family joke - we certainly wish we knew the joke. At any rate the show is well balanced and interesting as are all the artist's hangings.
Something else for the adults has been planned and this is a sure winner. On Tuesday evening, March 17, at 7:30 P.M., another slidechat program has been planned at the Library. The topic is "Antiques" and the superb slides are part of the famous "Art of the United States" collection borrowed from the New York State Library. The library staff was so noisily enthusiastic and had such a fine time dis· cussil'l:g their own possessions that it was decided a sort of adult "show-and-tell" period should follow the slides. So, if you would like to, you are invited to bring along one or several of your own treasures and either tell a bit about them or if you aren't too sure, perhaps some· one at the gathering can supply the information. The evening will be most informal and should be a lot of fun.
There is to be another art show at the library beginning this week, which, by the way, is Nursery Education Week. Children from the TriVillage Nursery School are to bring examples of their original (and it is original) work and will hav.e a show all their own.
That same week on Saturday morning, March 14, at 9:30 and again at 11:00, Miss Carol Alric, children's librarian, will show three films to the youngsters of the area. "Legend of Paramo" is based on a folk story of South America. "Miss Esta Maude's Secret" tells of the adventures of a school teacher and her racing car. "Moon Bird" captures the magical world of childhood as two small boys go out at night to capture a moonbird. The films are all rated highly and will please all ages.
Coffee House Because of the fire in the open at the end of this month,
boiler room of the Bethlehem but now it needs an even Coffee House, on March 4, greater work force than beopening night previously an- fore. Everyone is welcome, nounced as March 14, has been and needed! To find out what postponed. Hopefully it will you can do, can 439-5247.

1. That erecting the apartment unit would estahlish a precedent in their neighhorhood.
2. That the additional autos of the apartment residents and their guests would add to the air pollution.
3. That the design of the rear of the proposed stru('ture would offend the homeowners of the one-family dwellings adjacent to it.
4. That the apartment residents and their guests would add "density and stress" to the neighhorhood.
5. That the homeownt'rs in the neighhorhood live in Bethlehem because they wish to avoid the noise and congestion this type of apartment attraels.
Mr. Mosmen refuted these allegations.
He .told the Board that hecause of present construdion custs it would he more feasible for him to build a three-family apartment house than a two· family one. Each unit would he .one-bedroom and would he rent· ted to retired or semi·retired couples, young married couples without children, or single persons, he told the Board. Although split·level, MI". Mosmen said the structure would resemhle a one or two· family house.
If Mr. Mosmen's requcst for a special exception to the zoning law, is approved and he is allowed to build the apartmcnts. he said construction would hegin as soon as the weather warms up and could take frnm three to four months, at an estimated cost of $45.000.
Several neighhors present in· dicated alarm to the Zoning Board that if this apartment dwelling is constructed, it will leave other vacant lots wide open for similar development.
