Car, Gar, Zar verbs

Last unit, we talked about verbs that were REGULAR and verbs that are IRREGULAR. Today we will be exploring some IRREGULAR verbs.

We call them Car, Gar, Zar verbs

They change in the “yo” form ONLY.

BUSCAR JUGAR EMPEZAR

Preterite: CAR, GAR, ZAR

Car, gar, and zar verbs conjugate like regular -ar verbs EXCEPT in the yo form.

Car: C → QU Yo busquéGar: G → GU Yo juguéZar: Z → C Yo almorcé

Car

In the yo form, the “c” changes to “qu”

Gar

In the yo form, “g” changes to “gu”

Zar

In the yo form, “z” changes to “c”

Actividad 2Answer the following questions in Spanish in complete sentences.
