FALL | 2016 NU INFORMS Student Chapter was given a Sum Cum Laude (highest) award for the excellence in 2015 - 2016. Student officers received the award from Prof. Brian Denton, the president of INFORMS. Lunch and Learn presentations allow students to practice their presentation skills as well as informing other students about their research. All this happens while munching on good food. This quarter, we organized three Lunch and Learn seminars. On October 21st, exchange students Emma Stubbington and Lucy Morgan from Lancaster University gave wonderful presentations about their research and their university. PhD students Kartikey Sharma, Nastaran Shojaei and Allen Wu practiced their presentations for INFORMS annual meeting in the second Lunch and Learn on November 4th. LUNCH AND LEARN SEMINAR LUNCHEONS Mark Semelhago and first year student Linda Pei, led a fun and useful LaTex workshop as the season finale on November 18 th . Seminar luncheons are a weekly events organized by the IEMS department and the Informs student chapter where the students have a lunch with the seminar speaker of the week. This allows students to associate with researchers from outside the university. With the aim of allowing the students to relax before theINFORMS Annual Meeting, we organized a Game Night onNovember 10th. IEMS PhD students and their families tookover the Game Room in the Student Center and enjoyedsome good Indian food while playing games.

GAME NIGHT

We organized three Brownbags in thisquarter. These are events whereprofessor present their research tonew students with the aim ofattracting new students as well asgive the first year students a broadidea of the research taking place inthe department.

In the beginning of Academic year,the Engineering School organized anevent for new TAs. With the aim ofcomplementing this event weorganized another departmentspecific event where students havealready been TAs answer questionsabout specific challenges faced bythem and issues faced by students inthe department.
