Overview

The Lumedio Evolution G24 LED Series is a simple way to make your cur-rent space more sustainable. These energy saving solutions fi t into existing fi xtures and provide comparable light levels to current G24 applications.

LED technology is a smart decision because it offers both 100% light out-put in cold temperatures, no mercury and instant start. Lumedio G24s are ideal for specifi c applications such as offi ce building, hotels, universities, and other locations striving to reduce their carbon footprint, without in-creasing their cost of operation or sacrifi cing on light quality or light illumi-nation levels.

Color Temperature Chart

Color temperature is a description of the warmth or coolness of a light source. When a piece of metal is heated, the color of light it emits will change. This color begins as red in appearance and graduates to orange, yellow, white, and then blue-white to deeper colors of blue. The temperature of this metal is a physical measure in degrees Kelvin or abso-lute temperature. While lamps other than incandescent do not exactly mimic the output of this piece of metal, we utilize the correlated color temperature (or Kelvins) to describe the appearance of that light source as it relates to the appearance of the piece of metal (spe-cifi cally a black body radiator).

By convention, yellow-red colors (like the fl ames of a fi re) are considered warm, and blue-green colors (like light from an overcast sky) are considered cool. Higher Kelvin temperatures (4000–6000 K) are what we consider cool and lower color temperatures (2700–3500 K) are considered warm. Cool light is preferred for visual tasks because it produces higher contrast than warm light. Warm light is preferred for living spaces be-

cause it is more fl atter-ing to skin tones and clothing. A color tem-perature of 2700–3600 K is generally recom-mended for most resi-dential indoor general and tasks. 4000-4500K is recommended for offi ce enviroments, and 5000K and higher is good for technical and art design work. Color Temperature is not an indicator of lamp heat.

CRI ChartCRI, or Color Rendering Index, is a measurement of a light source’s accuracy in rendering different colors when com-pared to a reference light source with the same correlated color temperature. It generally ranges from -41 for a source like a low-pressure sodium vapor lamp, which is monochro-matic, to 100, for a source like an incandescent light bulb, which emits essentially blackbody radiation.

The higher the CRI, the better the visual perception of colors. CRI is related to color temperature, in that the CRI measure-ments for a pair of light sources can only be compared if they have the same color temperature.

The highest attainable CRI is 100. Lamps with CRIs above 70 are typically used in offi ce and living environments. A stan-dard “cool white” fl uorescent lamp will have a CRI near 62.
