MR Ranchi/ Khunti Report – Month October 2016

Vaccination & Coverage

October is kind of slow going month due to Festivals and lot of holidays.

Now that we are preparing for our Mass Vaccination Drive in Ranchi, we are working on bringing more

awareness in the Ranchi City, as we enter year three next month. Khunti MR team completed entire Khunti

Block. Earlier we were carrying out 2 panchayat’s from each Block, however after meeting with Andy, Kate and

Fred, we decided to go ahead by covering Blocks one by one. This is our first Block we completed.

During our Annual Vaccination Drive, first time we are also planning to do the vaccination in Khunti urban as

well. Khunti Urban is very small, hence we are going to have all our Ranchi and Khunti team together to finish

Khunti town/ urban in four days of work.

We also Spayed – 322 and Neutered – 497 total 819 numbers of dogs during this month.

In Ranchi human population is increasing, the

construction of houses in new areas are coming

up but the garbage system has not been

improved yet, hence we are still getting almost

1000 dogs a month for surgeries.

After we start the Third round of vaccination of

Ranchi city, we will get to see more numbers of

dogs for surgery. Ranchi Municipal Corporation is

also happy with our work and supporting us wherever required.

Surveys are being conducted well, now that our team has decided to work Block by Block, it is becoming easy for us to

concentrate our efforts and continue doing education as well

as the vaccination work without disturbing the entire team.

Rabies Cases

Fortunately this month as well we don’t have a single rabies case in Ranchi, in humans for the month of October as per

the Government report.

Education

The New Education officer has joined this month and we are seeing some very good pictures and updates from the field

from Khunti. The team in Ranchi and Khunti has done a good job this month as well. In Ranchi due to examinations and

due to Festivals there are holidays for almost more than two weeks. It was completely community programs were also

organized.
