Ludwig Van Beethoven Beethoven was born on December 17,1770 into a musical family in Bonn, a town on the Rhine in northwestern Germany. His father, Johann, was a court musician. He taught Ludwig piano and violin. Beethoven was a gifted pianist and composing. Beethoven went to Vienna for further study and stay there permanently in 1792. Beethoven tried to make himself acceptable to polite society in Vienna. He bought new clothes, located a wigmaker and found someone who could give him dancing lesson. Beethoven aim was to gain an attention into the homes of the wealthy of the Austrian capital. His gifted for phenomenal talent as a pianist, his playing was louder, more violent, more forceful and more expressive than the arisocrats of the salons ever heard. He possessed an extraordinary technique with his fainciful improvisations. His expression in music produce impression on every listener that had been blown away by his amazing technique. The aristocracy was interested to develop Beethoven talent by giving him a string quartet for experiment with small orchestra. The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op.125 ‘The Chorale’ is the final complete symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven. The pieces was completed in 1824, the symphony is one og the best-known works of the repertoire of classical music. This pieces was the first example of a major composer using voice in a symphony. The words are sing during the final movement by four vocal soloists and chorus. It got some influence from the ‘Ode to Joy’, a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1830. Today it stand as one of the most played symphonies in the world. Beethoven also was attracted to the ideals of the Enlightenment. In 1804, when Napoleon’s imperial became clear, Beethoven took hold of the title page of his Third

Beethoven's autograph score of the Ninth Symphony, held by the Berlin State Library, was added to

the United Nations World Heritage List, becoming the first musical score to be so honoured.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mozart was born in Salzburg, an independent Austrian city ruled by despotic archbishop. His father

was a violinist and composer in the archbishop service. Leopold trained Mozart and his older sister

when both of them shows their talent at early age. Mozart is a gifted musician, he was recognised to

have perfect pitch at the age of three . He completed his harpsichord player at the age of five. At the

age of six Mozart start to do composing. At seven years old, he could read at sight, harmonize

melodies on first hearing and improvise variations on any tune given to him. He also composed at a

stupendous rate, he compose 34 symphonies, 16 quartets, 5 opera and over 100 other works berfore

his 18 birthday. At the age of 16 he was appointed third concertmaster in Salzburg where his duties

included composing church music.

Mozart shows his interested more in opera and instrumental music. He left the archbishop service in

1781 and move to Vienna and became a freelance musician. Mozart continued his career by

composing at a prodigious pace, teaching private students, performing in public and private concerts

and selling his work to publisher. Mozart style exemplified by the first movements of the Sonata in F

major. He add some combinations of heterogeneous style on his piece. In 1785, Mozart published six

string quartets dedicated to Joseph Haydn as a token of his gratitude for all that he had learn from his

older teacher.

Mozart also composed Symphony No.40 in Gminor (1788). Mozart celebrate symphony in G minor

requires all of the 18th century orchestra. This is not a festive composition (no trumpets and drums).

Mozarts created the drive and urgency by outchord are set beneath the melody at an interval of one

chord measures, then one every two bars and two chords per measure. Thus the harmony or harmonic

rythm, is moving sixteen times daster at the end of this sections than at the starts. Mozart's music, like

Haydn's, stands as an archetype of the Classical style. Mozart was a versatile composer and wrote in

every major genre, including symphony, opera, the solo concerto, chamber music including string

quartet and string quintet and the piano sonata.
