Luddenham Public School Term 1 Week 2 1 A very warm welcome to all students, staff and our community to the 2019 school year. I hope that everyone had a chance to wind down and spend some relaxing Ɵmes with family and friends during the school break. A special welcome to our new students and families to our Luddenham Public School Community. Our school prides itself in welcoming and including each other and we wish your every success in our school. This year our school enrolment is 80 students and the class structure will be as follows: Kindergarten/Year 1: Mrs Ellis and Mrs Mendham Years 1‐2: Mrs Wacker and Mrs Treharne Years 3‐4: Mrs Ellul Years 5‐6: Mrs Rootes Mrs Treharne will conƟnue in the role of librarian and RFF teacher and will work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mrs Johnson will conƟnue in the role of Learning Support teacher and will work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. InstrucƟonal Leader: Mr Frith has been appointed Principal of Jerry’s Plains Public School, a small school in the Hunter Valley with 31 students. A new InstrucƟonal Leader will be appointed in early March aŌer an interview process. This Ɵme gives parents and teachers a chance to meet and discuss how the school works and classroom expectaƟons. Each teacher will make a brief presentaƟon and provide a handout at the end of each session. The P&C will be meeƟng this Friday morning 8th February in the school library at 9:15 aŌer morning assembly. The P&C meeƟngs are a great way to share your ideas and hear about what is happening in our school, if you are free, we would love to see you. A very warm welcome to all students, staff and our community to the 2019 school year. I hope that everyone had a chance to wind down and spend some relaxing  mes with family and friends during the school break. A special welcome to our new students and families to our Luddenham Public School Community. Our school prides itself in welcoming and including each other and we wish your every success in our school.  

This year our school enrolment is 80 students and the class structure will be as follows:

This year’s Small Schools Swimming Carnival will be a twilight carnival held on Tuesday 19th February at Ripples Penrith from 7‐9pm. A note with more informa on will be coming home soon. 

 

 

Welcome to 2019!  For those who haven’t met me, I am the Learning Support Teacher here at Luddenham PS.  This year I will be working in all classes across the school providing direct and  mely assistance to students with addi onal learning and support needs and their teachers on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  At  mes I will work with individual students whilst at other  mes I will target small groups.  You might see me working with students in the classrooms, outside in the playground, in the office building or in the library. The classroom teacher and I will decide the most appropriate physical learning environment to best meet the students’ needs.  If you have new concerns about your child, please feel free to speak with the classroom teacher first who will then communicate with me.  Together we will inves gate the issues raised, talk with you and then develop a plan of ac on.   

I am looking forward to partnering with you on your child’s learning journey.

This term the school will be conduc ng a 4 week Basketball Program. The program will offer the children a unique and enjoyable experience where they will learn a variety of skills taken from across the NSW PDHPE Curriculum, and further develop their fitness and apprecia on of a healthy and ac ve lifestyle. 

Each session will run for approximately 40 minutes. The program caters for children in all classes from Kindergarten to Year 6, and teaches and builds upon a range of skills appropriate to each child’s par cular stage of development through challenging and exci ng games and ac vi es. 

In previous years, the cost per student for a 10 week program was $10, however this year we have been successful in obtaining government funding again so the program is FREE! 

When the note comes home, please send back the permission note ASAP. 

 

Whether or not you are a working parent or have a family with small children, or have plenty of  me on your hands, there are many ways you can help our school. You can help out in the classroom with reading or maths groups, help in the canteen on a Friday, par cipate in school fundraising, help with the grounds maintenance, help out at spor ng carnivals  mekeeping etc We encourage all our families to become a part of our school community and appreciate all offers of help.

Welcome to all our returning and new Luddenham students and families! 

At our school we take part in the Commonwealth Student Banking program.  Every Thursday, if you bring your bank book with some money to Mrs Wilson or Mrs Chapple in the office, they will bank the money for you and return your bank book.  A er every ten deposits, you will be able to choose a reward from the range offered this year (as shown below and in the office window).  

 

If you would like to open an account, visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking as all accounts are opened online.  A er you obtain your bank book, you can start banking each Thursday and saving for your goals.

The canteen will reopen this Friday with a slightly altered menu. The new menu will be available soon. It will be sent home for each family, and also be published on the school website and in the Skoolbag app. Please ensure all lunch orders are wri en on a paper bag. And brought to the office before school.

The safety of our students and their families are of the utmost importance to us, and we urge all our students and their families to make safe choices when walking or driving around our school.  

In par cular: 

Please hold your child’s hand when crossing the road. 

Please do not double park because that makes it difficult to see when the road is safe to cross. 

Please do not do U‐turns out the front of the school where visibility is limited  due to the crest in the road . 

Please do not wait for you child on the other side of the road. 

We thank you for your help in keeping all our students safe.

The Luddenham Show will be held on the 17th and 

18th February and Mrs Wacker is happy to enter 

children's school work.  However, there are many 

other opportuni es for the children (and parents) 

to par cipate in categories that either can't be done 

at school or are not prac cal, for example cooking 

and or decora ng cakes, photography, scarecrow 

making, scrapbooking and many, many more. The 

last few years have seen less entries from children 

and the Show Society would love to see more 

par cipa on from children. This is a great way to 

have fun being crea ve and contribu ng to our 

community.

School photos will be taken on Thursday 28th February. Your child should have brought home an envelope from The School Photographer today. If you would like to purchase photos you should: 

If paying by cash, place correct money in the envelope. The school hands the envelopes directly to the photographer so change will not be given. 

If you are paying online record your online receipt number on the envelope  

Send in a separate envelope for each child 

Make sure envelopes are returned to the school on or before photo day  

Please note that cheques are no longer accepted by The School Photographer.  

If you would like to order a family photo, please ask for a separate  envelope from the office

The canteen will be open this Friday. Students should leave their lunch order at the office before school. Please write your child’s name, class and lunch order on a paper bag. Lunch orders without a bag will cost an extra  .10c.  Snacks will  be available  for purchase over  the  counter at  recess. A new menu has been published today and will be discussed by the P&C at the mee ng on Friday .  

P&C Mee ng

The first P&C Mee ng for 2019 will be held  in the  library on Friday 8th February  immediately a er the morning  assembly.  The  AGM will  be  held  on  8th March  followed  immediately  by  a  general  mee ng. A ending P&C mee ngs is the best way to find out what’s happening in our school. 

Everyone is welcome—it would be lovely to see some new faces along with the old.
