Over 20,000lives savedsince 2009

Lucky Dog Animal RescueSince 2009, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue has saved more than 20,000 at risk dogsand cats – all without a facility of our own. To accomplish this amazing feat,Lucky Dog relies on an extensive network of more than 2,000 fosters andvolunteers working together to save animals in need from across the nation. Wemaximize every dollar received and partner with veterinarians, pet stores, trainers, and other animal welfare organizations to ensure our shoestringbudget stretches as far as possible.

What sets us apart is our flexibility and our constant drive to innovate andimprove. We are never satisfied with the lives we have saved. We keep askingourselves how can we save more? How can we be more efficient and effective?Help more people adopt and care for their four-legged friend? In 2020, COVID-19 demanded we pivot our entire operating model within one week and led usto saving 3,500 animals in that year alone, almost 3 times the number ofanimals of any previous year. We did it all with an incredible network ofvolunteers and without a physical shelter to call our own.

Lucky Dog doesn't just save the "easy animals." We don't abandon them whenthe going gets tough, and they need a little -- or a lot -- of extra help. To us,every animal deserves a chance. And, we work tirelessly to give them thatchance. And we work tirelessly to give it to them.

Providing Second Chances 2

Our Commitment to Florence County, South CarolinaLucky Dog is committed to helping shelters that have no other help, shelters forwhom a partnership with Lucky Dog makes all the difference. Florence County,South Carolina's animal shelter is one such shelter. When we began pullingdogs from the “pound,” their annual adoption rate was 5%, or 4-6 dogs. Just 4-6dogs a year. A full 95% of the dogs never walked back out the shelter doorsbecause they were euthanized when no one adopted them. Fast forward 11years, and 90% of the dogs leave the shelter alive. All because of Lucky Dog.

We Still Face Substantial Challenges:1. Health protocols in the shelter are seldom followed, resulting in catastrophic yet preventable illnesses like parvovirus.2. A large number of heartworm positive dogs end up in the shelter, requiring longer stays in subpar conditions. 3. Only 20% of the cats that enter the shelter see a live outcome.4. Dogs bound for Lucky Dog are currently housed in a kennel building which, while functional, is in a state of disrepair.5. We are unable to address any dogs that have behavioral challenges.6. We must empty the shelter any time there is a threat of a major storm or natural disaster so that displaced evacuees have a place to go.

Each of these challenges has a solution: a facility where Lucky Dog cantemporarily house dogs, cats, puppies and kittens while they get ready fortransport to the DC area. A facility where we can ensure the highest standardsof care are met. A facility where puppies can receive lifesaving treatment whensuffering from parvovirus and where adult dogs can recover in safety andcomfort after receiving lifesaving heartworm treatment. That facility is LuckyDog’s Florence Campus.

A World of Possibility Lucky Dog’s Florence Campus will consist of six animal service buildings as wellas a "Mission House” which will be renovated to house volunteers and donorswho want to visit the facility. The six animal service buildings include:

• An Infectious Disease Infectious Care Unit with four separate isolationwards that can be used to treat puppies and dogs suffering from parvovirus, distemper and other infectious diseases;• A Ringworm Treatment Center capable of isolating and treating cats andkittens being treated for highly contagious ringworm; • A Vet Center & Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic to provide care not only forLucky Dogs and Cats but also for community animals;• A Transfer Kennel to house dogs during their vaccine quarantine prior togoing to DC on transport; • A Heartworm Treatment and Boarding Kennel to house dogs duringheartworm treatment recovery and to help generate revenue forsustainability of our campus;• A Cat Building, complete with Kitten Nursery, to help address thesignificant deficit in feline lifesaving that exists in Florence County. While our primary focus as we get our campus up and running will behelping the animals in Florence County, we believe that is just the start. Weintend to immediately offer our services within the Infectious Disease ICU tothe surrounding area shelters with puppies suffering from parvovirus. As ouroperations become established, we plan to use the facility to save animalsfrom the surrounding counties and beyond, preparing them for transportnorth to the DC area -- perhaps even beyond. And, we hope to eventuallyoffer our low-cost spay/neuter and heartworm treatment services to otherrescues and shelters in the area.

The Florence Campus will also serve as an incredible resource for naturaldisaster relief. In the past, when Lucky Dog has helped respond to naturaldisasters, we have been limited by our foster capacity – and the need to ensureall animals are fully vetted prior to arrival, something difficult to do as ahurricane approaches. Sending animals to the Florence Campus as a first stopen route to DC will allow us to take animals, whether fully vetted or not, andensure they get out of immediate harm’s way. We also have the space to putpop up kennels should any large puppy mill or abuse cases need temporaryhousing.

The lifesaving possibilities for this campus are immense!

A Destination for South Carolina Part of our vision is to make Lucky Dog’s Florence Campus a destination forvolunteers, whether they are currently with Lucky Dog or just animal lovers ingeneral. To help people really understand why shelters in the South need ourhelp, and why overpopulation remains such and incredible problem. We plan torenovate the existing “pool house” into a "Mission House" where people can

stay and spend time volunteeringwith the animals. Volunteers willalso be able to stay at local hotels;we plan to approach these hotels toestablish partnerships. Because thecampus is en route to the beach, itis the perfect location for people tostop to give back before having aweekend of fun in the sun.

We can also consider creating a doggie rest area where people driving I-95 can stop andgive their animals a much-needed break on long car trips. Creating such a rest area woulddovetail nicely with the ability to sell limited retail at the Vet Center, adding a potentiallystrong revenue stream.

Turning our Dream into RealityOur dream of creating a lifesaving rescue campus is finally ready to come to fruition.Lucky Dog has purchased a 20-acre parcel of land, and with the assistance of LCKconstruction and McMilllian, Pazdan and Smith Architecture of Greenville, SC, we havecreated a plan to convert existing buildings and build new structures to create our newcampus.

This campus will be a safe space for the treatment and rehabilitation of at-risk andhomeless animals facing certain euthanasia in overcrowded shelters -- a space to preparefor foster families and adoption to their forever families.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss how you can be part of our lifesaving team as weexpand impact in South Carolina. We need your help to secure the $6,750,000 required tobuild this campus.
