PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Lucktoberfest
Lucktoberfest is only two sleeps away! Students and staff have worked enthusiastically to
ensure that it will be a great event. This year we have a number of free activities for children to
participate in, along with the usual carnival rides and class stalls. Thank you to all of the
parents who have assisted and to School Council for their unwavering support to make Lucknow
a great school!
Parent Requests for 2019 Classes
We remind all parents … if you have requests for your child’s class placement in 2019, please
put it in writing to the Principal by Friday 16th November. Requests should focus on the social
and academic needs of the child and not simply a request for a particular class or teacher. If
you have put in a request in previous years, please do not rely on that to cover the 2019 school
year. A new request needs to be submitted as circumstances are constantly changing. Please do
not rely on verbal discussions with staff, as only written requests to the Principal will be
considered. All requests will be treated confidentially and we will endeavour to cater for these
whenever possible within the set class structure. No requests from parents will be considered
after this due date.

Professional Learning Communities at Lucknow
Staff at Lucknow Primary School have worked very hard over the past 3 years to embed the
attributes and skills that characterise a Professional Learning Community (PLC). PLC schools
focus sharply on student learning, by asking 4 critical questions: What do we want students to
learn? How will we know if they have learnt it? What will we do if they don’t learn it? What will
we do if they already know it? The PLC approach involves teams of teachers working
collaboratively together at the school level to improve student outcomes. The Department is
supporting Victorian government schools to build effective PLCs through the Victorian PLC
initiative.
Lucknow has achieved so much in this regard and as a result, we have been acknowledged for
our work by being selected to be a PLC Link School. PLC Link Schools are schools that share
their experience of building a high-performing learning culture using the Professional Learning
Communities approach to school improvement.
Lucknow will be supported by the Department for one year to share our practices and learning
with other schools. This will involve:
hosting visits from other schools
presenting in meetings, forums and conferences of teachers and school leaders
featuring in videos of effective PLC practices
acting as a challenge partner to other PLCs
making their PLC templates, examples, worksheets, timelines and other resources
available to other schools
PLC Link Schools are recognised state-wide for their leadership and achievements! WELL DONE
EVERYONE!! This recognition is well deserved.
