SWISS MUSEUM OF TRANSPORT –

The Swiss Transport Museum or Verkehrshaus der Schweiz, in Lucerne, is a museum, opened in July 1959

and exhibiting all forms of transport as well as communications. It is Switzerland's most popular museum.

Experience in interesting and diverse ways – Rail Transport - What would Switzerland be without rail

transport, locomotives and rolling stock – or put another way, how did rail transport effect the development

of industry and in turn Switzerland as well? You will find an interesting and comprehensive collection on

the theme of Swiss rail transport ranging from the Spanisch-Brötli-Bahn to the new trans-Alpine railway

(NEAT) – from the horse-drawn tram via steam railways to rack railways and last but not least, the electric

but 7,800 individual images, taken from an aircraft at altitudes of between 4,400 m and 9,300 m. Besides

this there is also the Film Theatre & Planetarium.

Swiss Chocolate Adventure - The Swiss Museum of Transport has gained a further attraction. The

MOUNT RIGI – Queen Of The Mountains

The Rigi is a mountain massif of the Alps, located in Central Switzerland. The whole massif is almost

entirely surrounded by the water of three different water bodies: Lake Lucerne, Lake Zug and Lake Lauerz.

Located at the heart of Central Switzerland, Mount Rigi is perfectly accessible from all four points of the

compass. The mountain railway will take you up and right into the magnificent Alpine world, where you

just get off and enjoy life – it’s as simple as that. It starts with the mountain railway ride, an experience that

will “have ’em riveted”. And it goes on: the hiking trails, the nice fireplaces and barbecue areas, the

playgrounds. In short: Mount Rigi has everything to make your family outing unforgettable. Enjoy Mt. Rigi

with a day ticket from Mt. Rigi Railways which includes cogwheel train from Vitznau and Goldau up to

mountain railways on Mt. Rigi (except for the aerial cable-cars from Brunnen-Urmiberg and Vitznau-

Wissifluh). After all, there's so much for our younger guests to do on Mt. Rigi. They can have fun on

exciting playgrounds, test themselves at the Rigi Rope Park in Küssnacht, grill sausages at a barbecue site

or simply go for one of the beautiful walks up on the "Queen of the Mountains". No-one gets bored on

child-friendly Mt. Rigi. Rigi Kulm - rising to 1797 meters above sea level, Rigi Kulm is the highest peak

of Mount Rigi. From here, you can enjoy a view of no fewer than 13 lakes and a regular “sea of peaks”, a

360-degree panorama that is truly the stuff of legend. Just board the cogwheel train in Vitznau or Arth-

CHAPEL BRIDGE & WATER TOWER –

Lucerne lies on the river Reuss, at the end of Lake Lucerne, framed by impressive mountains. The city has

been a stronghold of tourism since 1840, thanks to the well-preserved Old Town with its Chapel Bridge

and Water Tower. Lucerne is divided by the river Reuss into an Old Town and a New Town. The two

districts are connected by what is among other things the world's oldest covered wooden bridge, the Chapel

Bridge, which dates back to the year 1332. The bridge was rebuilt true to the original after the fire of 1993

and leads to the actual landmark of Lucerne, the octagonal Water Tower. Like the over 500-year-old

Musegg Wall with its turrets, the bridge and water tower were part of the city fortifications. At the outflow

of the river Reuss, a historic needle dam, built in 1860, regulates the water level of the lake. The nearby

Old Town boasts a town hall which dates back to the Late Renaissance as well as a Jesuit church,

Switzerland's oldest Baroque church.

LAKE LUCERNE –

Encircled by popular excursion mountains, Lake Lucerne is the lake with the greatest scenic variety in the

country. It is somewhat reminiscent of a fjord landscape, yet remains characterised by a mild lake climate.

Boat cruises on board five historic paddle wheel steamers and 15 elegant salon motor vessels count among

the highlights of this region. The largest shipping company in Switzerland operates the necessary routes to

reach many of the most important excursion destinations and mountain cableways of the region, such as

the Rigi, Pilatus, Bürgenstock and Klewenalp. Special musical and culinary events are also offered on

numerous scheduled and additional trips. The rich offering of delicious foods from the onboard galley

provides added enjoyment and pleasure to any cruise. A boat trip can be ideally combined with a walk,

such as the "Weg der Schweiz" or Swiss Path, a themed trail on the history of Switzerland. Several cycling

and skating paths as well as numerous bathing and rest areas are provided along the lake shores. An

excursion to the popular sightseeing and shopping town of Lucerne, to include a trip to the Swiss Museum

of Transport with its IMAX cinema, the Glacier Garden or a leisurely shopping expedition through the old

town, is well worthwhile.

With his keen eye for beautiful landscapes, and unique light conditions, Segantini discovered this special

this is probably the most beautiful vantage point above the lakes of Upper Engadine. Sunsets from here are

a sight to behold. Between 1905 and 1907, the first funicular railway in Engadine was built here by Von

Roll. Here you can hike into panoramic views in the literal sense: over to Alp Languard (Pontresina) or up

to the Segantini hut and the Schafberg, where the artist Giovanni Segantini died a lonely death. Especially

enjoyable are the panoramic views from the large sun terrace of the romantic mountain hotel - and sunsets

as seen from here are truly remarkable. The train runs until late at night - but you can also take a room at

the attractive hotel. A funicular railway takes over the 700-meter climb from Punt Muragl up to the Muottas

Muragl for all scenic lovers – accompanied in the upper section by sun collectors that cover the energy

requirements of the mountain dwelling in an environmentally friendly way. In winter, Muottas Muragl is
