WE826 Router - Flashing Firmware

This LTE Fix It Series topic will focus on flashing the firmware on the WE826 router.

The OEM WE826 is preloaded with OpenWRT firmware. Some users may

find the OEM firmware adequate. Others may prefer a different build of firm-

ware to accommodate special requirements. Still others may simply want to

explore different firmware builds.

On of the more popular firmware builds for this router is GoldenOrb. It has

been perfected over time and is compatible with a multitude of 3G|4G|LTE

USB modems as well as the line of Sierra Wireless mini PCIe modem cards.

It is by far the best firmware we have seen to date, and its forum based sup-

port group is second to none.

This topic will download and use GoldenOrb for our firmware flashing exam-

ple for the WE826.

The steps and examples below may reference a topic previously published

in a LTE Fix It Series. All published series are available on our website in a

3. Type the WE826 OpenWRT default Password “admin”

4. Click the “Login” button

Once logged in to the OpenWRT LuCI:

5. Select the “System” tab on top of the toolbar

6. Select the “Backup/Flash Firmware” from the dropdown menu

When the “Flash operations” page opens:

7. Remove the check mark from the “Keep settings” box

8. Click on the “Choose File” button and direct the window to the WE826 file folder on the desktop containing the Gold-

enOrb firmware

9. Select the lede-we826-G02017-xx-xx.bin firmware. It should now appear in the File name window

10. Click the “Open” button
