ind The PlaySense® Peace of Mind

Strong and durable.

Here are a few facts about PlaySense® construction:

Decks

• Our strong, durable decks hold over 2 tons. That’s a lot of kids. Or one giant elephant — if you have one.

• Deck holes are 5⁄16" in diameter to provide more surface steel than decks with larger holes — supporting everyone every step of the way.

• Posts are attached outside the deck, not through, to ensure the greatest play space possible.

Posts

• L-posts can hold over 10 times their required load for a single deck as specified by ASTM F1487 safety standard.

• Aluminum posts do not rust — so there’s more time spent playing, not repairing.

Finish

• ProShield™, our specially formulated primer and architectural-grade powdercoat, is applied to ensure UV protection, long-lasting color, glossy finish, less corrosion, fewer chips and less maintenance.

• We drill, punch and weld before we prime and paint to best protect the metal.

Hardware

• Hardware is individually packaged and labeled per component. Perfect for fast and efficient community-build projects.

• Tamper-proof, stainless steel hardware with a thread-locking patch keeps all PlaySense components safe and secure.

Three post styles found on PlaySense structures.

PlaySense decks are 2 tons strong.

Installs easily.

There’s no need to measure or adjust clamps. Pre-drilled holes and easy-to-follow assembly instructions make installation simple.

Simple process.

• Some PlaySense playstructures can be purchased and installed in phases, making it easy for your budget.

• Landscape Structures playground consultants can handle everything for you. Site assessment. Playground design. Fundraising ideas. You name it. Just ask. Call 763.972.5200 or visit playlsi.com.

Our warranty. Our word.

PlaySense comes with a 100-year limited warranty on posts, and a 15-year limited warranty on plastic and steel components. Beyond that, it’s backed by our personal commitment to keep you satisfied now and well into the future. To learn more about our warranty, contact your Landscape Structures playground consultant or visit playlsi.com.

What makes us different makes us better

TenderTuff™ coating protects small hands, feet and knees for healthier, safer kids We protect tender hands from the temperature extremes of bare metal with our proprietary TenderTuff surface coating. You’ll find it on most everything children may touch. Our exclusive TenderTuff coating acts as a temperature moderator, insulating little hands from heat and cold, and providing a softer, grippier surface. Even better, we utilize production techniques that save water and energy during the application of this great coating!

ProShield® finish is a smart combination of beauty and brawn Our ProShield finish is so tough, it substantially increases the durability of our products. We’ve combined a specially formulated primer with a high-quality, architectural-grade powdercoat topcoat. The result is enhanced longevity, greater protection against harsh UV rays, prevention from corrosion and improved product performance. You’ll notice the vibrant, long-lasting color and glossier finish. You’ll appreciate the resistance to corrosion and chipping, requiring less maintenance. It’s available in all the great colors you’ve come to love. And we reclaim our epoxy primer within the process, eliminating waste powder. Tested tough for over 4,000 hours in a high-concentration salt/fog chamber and more than 3,000 hours in a UV chamber, ProShield is more durable and UV stable than standard powdercoat paints.

Global ReLeaf® helps us offset carbon emissions, one playground at a time Landscape Structures is an exclusive playground partner of Global ReLeaf, a program of American Forests. For every playground we manufacture and sell, trees are planted through Global ReLeaf to offset the carbon dioxide produced while manufacturing that specific playground. Since 2008, we have planted more than 100,000 trees. A sign is available to let the community know that its playground is directly benefiting forests elsewhere on the planet — forests that filter water, remove air pollution, sequester carbon, and provide homes and nourishment for wildlife. Every tree improves the environment. And now, so does every playground.

Sustainable by Design:

Hardware packs for less waste, faster installation All our bolts, flange nuts and screws are vandal resistant to keep your playground safe from unwanted tampering. While other manufacturers ship a box of mixed bolts, we package each set of fasteners individually, per component. Equipment assembly diagrams are included to make installation easier and error free, and help make community-build projects faster and more efficient. Plus, there is less waste, which is good for everyone.

• Total recycled content: 81%

• Post-consumer content: 24%

Swivel point connectors are better by every measure Our Disc Challenge bridge may seem similar to flexible bridges offered by other manufacturers, but only we use specially engineered swivel point connectors to attach our bridges to the overhead beams. These self-lubricating “universal joints” are stronger, safer and more flexible than lesser-quality clevis pins or S-hooks. Designed to withstand wear and tear, they reduce maintenance time and expense, and allow you to keep the playground fun available year-round.

Sliding footers for safe and healthy kids Sliding footers help ensure slides don’t pull away from decks, warp or crack due to normal expansion and contraction. The result: They help eliminate gaps that can potentially entangle children’s clothing. Bolting slides directly to the ground may be less expensive, but it’s not as safe or long lasting. We are the only playground equipment manufacturer to use sliding footers at the bottom of our slides.

Innovative by Design:

Landscape Structures is a member in good standing of IPEMA, the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association. IPEMA is a member-driven, international trade organization that represents and promotes an open market for manufacturers of play equipment.

In the interest of playground safety, IPEMA provides a Third Party Certification Service whereby a designated independent laboratory validates a participant’s certification of conformance to ASTM F1487, Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use, except sections 7.1.1, 10 and 12.6.1; CAN/CSA Z614, Children’s Playspaces and Equipment Standards, except clauses 9.8, 10 and 11; or both. The use of the corresponding logo in the Landscape Structures Inc. catalog signifies that Landscape Structures Inc. has received written validation from the independent laboratory that the product(s) associated with the use of the logo conforms with the requirements of the indicated standards. Check the IPEMA website (www.ipema.org) to confirm product certification. The use zone and fall height requirements in this publication are shown to ASTM standards. The requirements for other standards may be different. According to the CSA, playground maintenance and inspection is a continuous and integral part of budgetary costs. The cost of inspection and maintenance shall be considered and incorporated into the budget at the time of design, purchase of equipment and installation (11.1.1 Budgeting).

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is a scientific and technical organization that is a major developer of standards for testing different types of materials. In 1993, the ASTM published “Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specifications for Playground Equipment for Public Use,” designation F1487-93. ASTM is more technical than the CPSC. ASTM revised its old standard and published a new standard in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2005, 2007 and again in 2011.

We’re proud to lead the way and promote healthy lifestyles for children and families, a cleaner environment and strong communities. We’re a founding member of the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA™), an organization that ensures quality and safety for all playground equipment. In addition, we are certified to both ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 standards, which help ensure that all of our products are safe for children and the environment, and that our equipment is consistently manufactured to the highest-quality standards. In fact, we were the first North American playground equipment manufacturer to be ISO 14001 certified.

American Society for Testing and Materials 100 Barr Harbor Dr. P.O. Box C700 West Conshohocken, PA 19428 www.astm.org
