The IALF offers a two-week intensive course in Bahasa Indonesia which is suitable for absolute beginners as well asthose who can manage just a few words. The course has been designed for those who have recently arrived and therefore includes informa�on on cross-cultural issues.
The course begins with topics such as introduc�ons and gree�ngs, �mes and dates, numbers and prices, and buildsup to simple everyday exchanges. Other topics include iden�fying objects, shopping, talking about loca�ons and direc�ons, rou�nes, family and health.
The morning session is four hours and the a�ernoon sessionis two hours. There is an emphasis on ac�ve par�cipa�onby the students. Ac�vi�es o�en include extended prac�ce inpairs or small groups.
Language work is consolidated through an op�onal visit toa market, where students have the opportunity to use classroom language in an authen�c context.
Instructors are experienced na�ve-speaker teachers of Indonesian as a Foreign Language. All hold a university degree and teaching qualifica�on, and understand the types of difficul�es experienced by adult second-language learners. Though they will teach primarily through the medium of Indonesian, all are fluent speakers of English.
The program runs from 8.00 - 15.00, Monday to Friday fortwo weeks, a total of sixty hours.
