Executive Director Full-time exempt Compensation Package TBD Working version dated July 2, 2015 Primary Job Purpose The Executive Director, as chief executive officer of Lutheran Partners in Global Ministry, is responsible for the success or failure of the ministry. As CEO the Executive Director will: Give direction to the formulation of LPGM’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual objectives and goals Ensure that LPGM remains true to its philosophy and mission Lead LPGM to achieve its objectives and goals Manage all programs Be the chief spokesperson for the institution Ensure the institution is properly presented to its various publics Job Specifications Work Direction: This position reports to the Board of Directors and follows organizational policies, procedures and compliance regulations. Accountability: The accuracy and timeliness of any task will have an impact on the integrity of the ministry. In addition, this position has access to confidential information. A high degree of discretion must be used with employee and donor data. The incumbent should always be looking for ways to improve the ministry in all partner relationships. Work Relationships: This position requires regular contact with all members of staff as well as constituents and donors. Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner, resolve outstanding issues, and offer assistance wherever and whenever it is necessary. function, and facilitate the optimum interaction between management, staff and the Board of Directors

Attend Executive Committee meetings, Board of Directors meetings and other committee meetings as needed as an ex officio member

Work with all staff and volunteers to ensure the ministry's communication supports the ministry's mission and strategic vision

HUMAN RESOURCES Ensure that the ministry has an effective staff with provision for succession. Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps and motivates top quality people—professional

and volunteer. DONOR AND FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT Create and foster long-term financial viability and strategic sustainability of the ministry Ensure that the ministry meets its budget targets Develop strategies for acquiring and retaining donors and supporters to ensure growth and

success of the ministry Create, maintain and expand connections with congregations, individuals, foundations, and

other entities interested in supporting the ministry PARTNER DEVELOPMENT/PROJECTS Develop programs and projects that further the ministry’s philosophy, mission and vision Responsible to coordinate, facilitate and supervise global projects approved by the project

committee Ensure communication to donors on the utilization of their financial gift and the effects of

the project Ensure project reporting that captures appropriate financial information, progress of project

and impact on recipients Act as liaison between project partners, creating open lines of communication in all

directions, always building and encouraging relationships Develop and nurture partnerships with like-minded USA organizations Develop and nurture partnerships with like-minded international organizations MISCELLANEOUS Facilitate special opportunities for international travel of constituents and host (arrange for

hosting) international partners who visit the U.S. Frequent Travel – domestic and international – to nurture and maintain relationships and

transact business Represent the organization at conferences, assemblies, worship, and mission events

Job Qualifications

Education: Preferably a four-year degree or equivalent experience in a similar discipline.

Experience: Ten to fifteen years in a relevant environment. Previous work in an international and/or multi-cultural setting is advantageous. Aptitudes: Comfortable use of email and the internet is essential. Proficiency of Microsoft WORD, POWERPOINT and EXCEL is desirable. Knowledge of financial (QuickBooks) and donor database (DONOR QUEST) software is helpful. Physical, Mental or Other: This position requires the ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team, the ability to prioritize work assignments, the ability to multi-task, and the willingness to perform general office tasks outside the boundaries of this job description (answer telephones, photo copy reports, apply mailing labels, shop for supplies and the like) when called upon.
