Social CommunicationSocial behavior and communication is a big issue
among SGAs due to the fact of being born and raised (i.e. all of their major developmental stages) in a high control group, which isolated them from mainstream
society resulting in lack of social skills and difficulty communicating with others in many normal situations.
Our orientation and mentoring programs teach hands on communication and social skills in the following
areas: In the Workplace
On a Date In a Social Gathering
On the Street
Critical Thinking
One of the side effects of high control groups is loosing the ability to think critically. A skill which we believe is
necessary in preventing survivors from returning to a group or joining another
one. Therefore, we worked with our recipients individually on developing
critical thinking skills and teaching them how to make independent and health choices for themselves and their future.
