School Vision and Mission: The YMCA of Hong Kong Christian International Kindergarten (West Kowloon) provides a high quality kindergarten education based on Christian values, encompassing children aged 2.8 to 6 years of all nationalities and abilities.
School Founding Year: 2011
School facilities: The Kindergarten has 5 registered classrooms and an indoor play area. It also shares the facilities in Beacon Centre such as chapel, library, upper ground hall, and dance room for activities.
Curriculum type: Non-local
Curriculum arrangement: The Kindergarten follows the “Early Years Foundation Stage Framework” from the U. K., incorporating “A Biblical Foundation for Early Childhood Education” from University of the Nations, “Jolly Phonics” from the U.K, and theme-based activities.
What is “Early Years Foundation Stage” (EYFS)?
The Early Years Foundation Stage is a framework for children of kindergarten age, setting out 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas
of learning around which activities should be based.
3 prime areas: Communication & Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development
4 specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts & Design
What is “A Biblical Foundation for Early Childhood Education” (BFECE)?
A Biblical Foundation for Early Childhood Education, created to speak to the heart of a young child, was first published by
YWAM’s University of the Nations over 30 years ago. It has been used by teachers from many nations in classrooms around the
world.
This curriculum aims to:
Nurture a young child’s relationship with God
Instill biblical values deeply into a child’s heart
Build an understanding of biblical truth using many illustrations from God’s Word
Create an environment where children are loved and valued. Home reading programme Reading with your child is vital to your child’s language and literacy development. Every week a book will be sent home in the reading bag to encourage parents to read with their child.
Field trips, talks and special activities Field trips, talks and special activities are planned all year round to scaffold children’s learning.
Medium of Instruction: English (with Putonghua lessons). Full day programme include Gymnastics, Taekwondo, Modern Dance, Basketball, Drama, Cooking, STEAM, Character Building and Putonghua.
Learning Assessment: A portfolio is started on entry to the school and observations are kept of development. Twice yearly developmental assessment reports are sent out to parents.

Full day session $1570 School fees for School Year 2019/2020: Half day session $5,796 per month Full day session $10,854 (including lunch fee) per month
Transportation: MTR: Cheung Sha Wan Exit C2 Bus: 2, 6, 6C, 31B, 60X, 171, 904, 905 A school bus service is available to surrounding areas. Detail on request.
Admissions
Applicants are invited to apply one year before entry to K1, with applications opening at the beginning of October each year. Children must be 3 years old by 31st December in the year of entry. There is no interview selection for K1 applicants. Names are placed on a waiting list and places are offered based on age and date of application. Priority is given to siblings of YMCA kindergarten students or graduates, YMCA Pre-Kindergarten Playgroup students, and YMCA Toddler’s World@BC students.
An information day for prospective K1 parents will be held in November each year. School visits during school hours can be arranged. Please contact the kindergarten office at 2281 6089.
Interested parties please send in a completed application form together with: a crossed cheque payable to “YMCA of Hong Kong” for application fee (HK$40) a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate three (3) self-addressed, stamped ($2) 4” x 9” envelopes

K1 Admissions 2020/2021
Application period for K1 School Year 2020/2021 (for children born in 2017) begins on 2nd October
2019. Submission of applications can be done either in person (9am to 12noon and 2pm to 4pm, from
Monday to Friday, except for public holidays.) or by post.
Application forms can be downloaded from the Kindergarten website (www.ymcahk.org.hk/cikgwk) or
collected from the Lower Ground Lobby of Beacon Centre.
Documents to be submitted together with the application form:
3 self-addressed stamped envelopes
application fee of HK$40 (cheque payable to “YMCA of Hong Kong”)
a copy of the child’s birth certificate
for children who do not have a HK birth certificate, proof of eligibility to live and study in Hong
Kong is required
Places are allocated according to the date the application is received by the Kindergarten Office. Priority of
admissions goes to siblings of graduates of YMCA schools, children who have completed Beacon Centre Pre-
Kindergarten Playgroup, and children who have attended at least 2 quarters of Toddlers’ World @BC.
K1 applications are accepted throughout the year, starting from 2nd October 2019. Acceptance or waitlist letters will be sent out within one month of application depending on vacancies. Parents applying after October will be invited to information sessions in January or April 2020.
