Low Post Rope Bed

This 18th century low post rope bed was commissioned by Old Sturbridge Village for a hands on display and is a replicaof one in their colllection. The bed uses no hardware. The head and foot being mortise and tenon joints with draw bore pins and the side rails held in place with the rope spring. The low headboard and use of several species of wood was common. The bed is in a washed paint finish. Maple posts and headboard, ash rails. This bed is available in a variety of wood and sizes with standard bed bolt construction.
