PLATO’S PHILOSOPHY

For Plato this type of love is something spontaneous that inspires the mind and soul. He considered love as something very positive that has the function of purifying the soul. In Sidney's sonnet Stella is something far and unattainable. Astrophel knows this aspect, but he cannot live without her and he is unable to give up his love. Stella is the most brilliant star and Astrophel cannot survive without her light.  This type of love is also present in Romeo and Juliet. It is evident in the declaration of love done by Romeo who describes his beloved with positive images, like the light and the sun.

Your love is a lie So don't try to say you're sorryOr try to make it rightAnd don't waste your breathBecause it's too late, it's too late

You can tell me that there's nobody else(But I feel it)You can tell me that you're home by yourself(But I see it)You can look into my eyesAnd pretend all you wantBut I knowI know your love is just a lie, lieIt's nothing but a lie, lieYou're nothing but a lie

Someone like youNever mind, I'll find someone like you, I wish nothing but the best for you, too, Don't forget me, I beg, I remember you said, "Sometimes it lasts in love, But sometimes it hurts instead," Sometimes it lasts in love, But sometimes it hurts instead, yeah,
