4.5mm circular knitting needle (80-100cm long) or size needed to give correct tension.

TENSION1 patt rep (16 sts and 32 rows) to 8cm over Centre patt, using 4.5mm needles.To work a tension square, using 4.5mm needles, cast on 34 sts.Work 64 rows Centre patt. BEG WORKING SHORT ROWS FOR CORNER –NOTE – When pattern specifies turn – proceed as folls to avoid holes in your work. TO MAKE UPUsing a flat seam, join cast-off end to cast-on end of border. Using mattress stitch, sew border evenly around centre.Block to shape – on padded surface, pin shawl out to given measurements. Spray with water and leave to dry, OR steam lightly, holding iron above work without touching. Shawl should be left until completely dry and cool, before removing pins and sewing in ends.
