Our Mission STATEMENT The mission of St. Luke Parish is to create a welcoming, faith filled, religious environment where relationships both spiritual and personal are built upon the teachings of Jesus Christ. We are a vibrant Catholic community open to diverse attitudes, approaches and paths, centered on Catholic principles and beliefs. Works of charity, human concerns and spiritual development are fostered and nurtured through participation in the sacraments, our parish liturgies and ministries. We are a people of dreams, seeking to experience Christ in ourselves, our families, the community and the world around us. Whether we have parted from one who is dear to us or we find ourselves struggling to cope with illness or permanent change, love can make all the difference in our journey toward healing. This universal antidote has everything to do with our ability to begin to heal the wounds that plague us. The human heart draws near to the tender love and light of kindness and understanding. When we experience moments of hurt and struggle in our lives, we can draw strength from the love and mercy we are given by God through each other. This is the salve we seek to infuse us with courage and grace to move beyond our present pain or circumstance and live our lives more fully. Unconditional love showered upon us by God always embraces us with the ability to heal and reconcile our spirit. Heavy hearts can sometimes prevent us from fully realizing it though. If we clearly awaken our senses to His ever-present love and surrender to this amazing truth, we would find ourselves surrounded with endless possibilities for personal growth and change. It all begins with the conscious choices we make. The sacred blessings of the love we choose to give and receive each day manifest themselves as we practice forgiveness, show gratitude and accept the present moment for the gift it is. We place our trust in knowing God is truly merciful and on our road to healing we lean on His divine power and strength to uphold us, keep us courageous and steadfast on our journey. Our life experiences can all yield a heart of compassion. Let us open our hearts as we are shown this path of love. May our personal healing become a gift to others. Love, Healing & God’s Tender Mercy

Where would we be without the power of love in our lives?

Whether we have parted from one who is dear to us or we find

ourselves struggling to cope with illness or permanent change, love

can make all the difference in our journey toward healing.

This universal antidote has everything to do with our ability to

begin to heal the wounds that plague us. The human heart draws

near to the tender love and light of kindness and understanding.

When we experience moments of hurt and struggle in our lives, we

can draw strength from the love and mercy we are given by God

through each other. This is the salve we seek to infuse us with

courage and grace to move beyond our present pain or circumstance

and live our lives more fully.

Unconditional love showered upon us by God always embraces us

with the ability to heal and reconcile our spirit. Heavy hearts can

sometimes prevent us from fully realizing it though. If we clearly

awaken our senses to His ever-present love and surrender to this

amazing truth, we would find ourselves surrounded with endless

possibilities for personal growth and change. It all begins with

the conscious choices we make. The sacred blessings of the love

we choose to give and receive each day manifest themselves as we

practice forgiveness, show gratitude and accept the present

moment for the gift it is.

We place our trust in knowing God is truly merciful and on our road

to healing we lean on His divine power and strength to uphold us,

keep us courageous and steadfast on our journey. Our life

experiences can all yield a heart of compassion. Let us open our

hearts as we are shown this path of love.

May our personal healing become a gift to others.

Making room for prayer is an important part of our ongoing growth in faith. In the months ahead, your child will join me and the other religious education children in prayer with the hope that they will grow to know God as a friend.

Please keep our volunteers in your prayers as we begin a new year of formation at St. Luke’s. We will keep you in our prayers and together, we will form a community of spiritual support for one another.

I look forward to all that we will learn together about our faith in the months ahead. May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire us, may Jesus shine through us, may God’s guiding hand rest on us all and may we practice peace at every turn.

Maureen Murtagh, Director of Religious Education
