The Band

Six percussionists and one visual artist presents a show that cannot be
compared to anything else you have seen. Louie's Cage Percussion
guarantees a unique and unforgettable live experience. Apart from
Louie's Cage Percussion, the percussionists are members of some of the
most pretegious orchestras in Austria, such as the Vienna Volksopera, the
Tonkuenstler Orchestra and the Graz Opera. The show combines music,
acting, dancing, singing and comedy in one performance, leaving the
audience with open mouths, stunning faces, and standing ovations.
Projected onto the stage with the musicians are interactive landscapes,
adding another dimension to the audience's listening experience. Louie's

Cage Percussion's music spreads from classical, jazz, drum'n'bass,
electronica to a TV series medley showcasing the musicians on
percussion, boomwhackers, synthesizers, guitar and tuba. A recent
Facebook Live rehearsal video of Louie's Cage Percussion went viral,
generating over 130 million views and counting! The video's success led
to sold out concerts in prestigious concert halls as the Konzerthaus
Vienna, Volksopera Vienna, Theater Akzent and numerous requests from
venues all over the world!

The Members
Sebastian Brugner
Sebastian Brugner was born on August 22th in 1988 in Oberwart. He received his first drumming tuition at the age of four at Ilz Music School in Styria, Austria. His main formative teachers in these early years were Franz Fuchs and Ulrike Stadler. During his time at the Music School he won the National Youth Music Award „Prima la Musica“ as percussion soloist. Furthermore he was educated in singing and the piano during his high school years at BORG Hartberg.
At the age of 14, he began percussion studies with Gerald Fromme at Graz University for Music and Performance Arts. In September 2012 he won an audition and became Principal Timpanist at the Vienna Volksoper. Before that, he had worked at the Vienna Volksoper and in the Lower Austria Tonkuenstler Orchestra as a percussionist. He now plays in orchestras like the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Graz Opera and the Symphony Orchestra of India.
Since summer 2013 he has been working together with Dietmar Bierbaum in a Mallet-Duo. He has played at different international festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Grafenegg Festival and the Series of Concerts Mumbai.
Dominic Feichtinger
Dominic Feichtinger was born in 1991 Vienna into a very musical family. After receiving early musical education he began his first drumming tuition with Maria Jenner and piano tuition with his father Robert Feichtinger. At the age of 14 he started at the Franz Schmidt Music School in Perchtoldsdorf, still studying with Maria Jenner. During this time he won various prizes including the County and National prizes of the “Prima La Musica” contest for Percussion Solo, Percussion Ensemble and Ensemble for Contemporary Music. After the Music School he enrolled at the Vienna Konservatorium University where he studied percussion with Leonhard Schmidinger, Anton Mittermayr, Nebojsa Zivkovic and Anton Mühlhofer. Between 2012 and 2014 he worked as percussionist at the Vienna Volksoper and in 2015 as percussionist and timpanist at the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra. He toured with various orchestras to China, Japan, South Korea, France, Switzerland and Hungary. He plays regularly for the Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna Symphonics, the Vienna Volksoper Symphonic Orchestra, the Viennese Chamber Orchestra, the Viennese Opernball Orchestra, and is also a member of various ensembles such as Feichtinger&Feichinger (organ&percussion) and the Vienna Volksoper Big Band. He has also participated at the Angelika-Prokopp Summer Academy of the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra during which he also played at the Salzburg Festival in 2013. Schloss Weinberg and is one of the founding members of Louie’s Cage Percussion Ensemble.
Florian Klinger
Florian Klinger was born in 1991 in Hollabrunn near Vienna, Austria.
2007-2013 Florian was studying classical percussion with Prof. Gerhard Windbacher (RSO Vienna) and Anton Mittermayr (Vienna Philharmonic) at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He also had lessons with David Friedman and Franck Tortiller on jazz vibraphone.
In 2011 he was selected as a percussionist for the Volksopera Vienna.
Florian graduated in 2014 from the JAM Music Lab University Vienna with a degree in jazz-vibraphone education. During his time at the university he studied with Paul Urbanek and Danny Grissett, and now teaches there as Austria’s first jazz-vibraphone teacher. 2016-2017 he studied with Stefon Harris in New York City and at the William Paterson University NJ with Kevin Norton, Bill Charlap, Aaron Goldberg, etc. Florian was selected for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency program 2017, at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., where he worked with Jason Moran, Carmen Lundy, Reuben Rodgers, Mark Shim, etc.
Florian has also played in orchestras, bands, and ensembles of different music styles with artists such as Benny Golson, Dick Hyman, Fabio Luisi, Bob Mintzer, Danny Grissett, Daniel Hope, Elina Garanca, Jose Carreras, Diana Damrau, Rolando Villazón, Erwin Schrott, Christian Kolonovits, Thomas Gansch, Lylit, Mario Gonzi, Michael Wimberly, Georg Breinschmid, Matthias Schorn, Lorenz Raab, Sigrid Hauser, RSO Vienna, Tonkünstler Orchester NÖ, Opernballorchester Vienna, and many more.
His career as a soloist has brought him to venues like the Konzerthaus Vienna, Porgy & Bess, Odeon Vienna, and many more concert venues all over the world.
In 2013 he founded the performance group “Louie’s Cage Percussion” with other aspiring percussionists, and the group is an up-and-coming ensemble in the international music scene.
Joachim Murnig
Joachim Murnig was born in 1990 in Graz, the youngest member of a family of piano players. At the age of five he started studying the piano, and at the age of seven he began learning the drums. He gained a wide range of experience in orchestral, ensemble, jazz and chamber music during his time at the Music Schools of Krieglach and Bruck an der Mur. He also won several first prizes in

the „Prima la Musica“ County Contest and a second prize at the National Contest.
Since 2008 Joachim Murning has been studying percussion with Professor Oliver Madas at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. Alongside his activities as a musician in several ensembles, big bands and jazz bands he plays regularly in orchestras and venues including the Vienna State Opera, Vienna Volksoper, Graz Opera and Vienna Symphonic Orchestra. Since 2014 he has been studying at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz under Bogdan Bacanu and Leonhard Schmidinger.
In March 2011 he was selected as percussionist in the Lower Austria Tonkuenstler Orchestra. He also won a third prize at the International Percussion Competition in Vilnius in May 2013.
Krištof Hrastnik
Krištof Hrastnik was born in a small town in Slovenia named Laško. At the age of six he started to play percussion and since autumn 2012 he has been studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Gerhard Windbacher. He gained wide musical experience from playing in a number of orchestras including the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Volksoper, the Baden Sinfonietta and many others. He took part in many competitions for percussion and won numerous prizes: Upol Svirel Competition (Golden Prize), Temsig Slovenia (Second Prize) and ItalyPAS on the Vibraphon (Second Prize). In 2015 he was selected for an audition to participate in the summer academy of the Vienna Philharmonic as part of the Salzburg Festival.
Lucas Salaün
Lucas Salaun was born in France into a very musical family and studied classicalpercussion with Alain Huteau and jazz drums with Andrea Michelutti at the Cergy-Pontoise Conservatoire close to Paris where he graduated in 2012 with a Diploma in Musical Studies. He also studied piano and received his final certificate at the Taverny Conservatoire. He continued his studies in 2014 with Anton Mittermayr and Anton Mühlhofer at the Vienna University for Music and Performance Arts.
He has collaborated with many regional and national youth orchestras in Paris, including Melo’dix, Impromptu, Orchestre du 20ème, French Youth Orchestra, Orchestra «opus 95» as well as Ensemble « 2E2M », a professional ensemble for contemporary music.

Between 2010 and 2013 he composed three rock symphonies which were performed by « Daydream » and the symphonic orchestra «Opus 95». As drummer of the electro-jazz band « Rétropolitain » Salaun recorded the album «Embarquez à Bord !» («Climb on board !»). He also played with other bands such as the Nouara Quartett, Dacryma, Sebastien Lemoine and many more.
After a successful orchestra audition, he participated in the Orchestra Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic as part of the Salzburg festival. Lucas regularly performs in numerous professional orchestras and ensembles, such as the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Volksopera, the Symphony Orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Orangery Orchestra in Schloss Schönbrunn, the Viennese Police Orchestra, Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Ensemble xx. Jahrhundert, and many others.
Roman Hansi Born in Vienna with roots in Lower Austria, Roman discovered his calling at the age of 16 what was to become his life’s passion – visuals.
This first spontaneous act as VJ at a techno-party deepened his interest in the medium. After studying one year at the TGM he completed a 5-year degree at the Graphische in Vienna, followed by a 1-year course of study in digital art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
His projects up to now have taken him in every direction imaginable and have helped him become the versatile artist he is today.
He was co-founder of Media Apparat, played for many years at the Urban Art Forms Festival, shot the spectacular short film “Follow your Dreams” with a team of Acro-Paragliders, produced time lapse videos for various film productions and also an underwater film in 360° perspective in the Caribbean Sea (360reality.at).
He has made image films for many different companies, for example SCHIFF fair success GmbH, and several product films for firms such as Ulbrich. On top of all of this he devotes time to working on digital art projects such as Antitree and (h)ansi 2500.
Recently he shot a powerful short film dealing with the current refugee crisis, also in 360° perspective.
Since 2012 he has been the VJ of the popular physics show Science Busters.
He joined Louie’s Cage Percussion in 2015.
