(page 43 line 1-16)THE PONDTHEMEThe theme of this story is love.-Love of the family. As in the text on page 52, line 28 -29 and page 53, line 1-5. The mother and father asked their children to go to the mud as their pond has getting smaller and in order to survive from being caught by the humans. For example:Come, children, said their mother. Its time to go down into the mud. (page 52,line 28 and 29)You must obey us, said his father. We have lived longer than you have. We know what to do.So all the young fish followed their parents down into the mud. (page 53, line 1-5)MORAL VALUESBased on this story, we have found two moral values which are:1. Never disobeyed your parents - In this story, Lenny refused to go the mud because he wanted to swim happily in the pond . He never listened to his parents. Lenny decided to go back to the pond with his friends. For example, on page 53, line 11-18.But Lenny was not happy at all. Lenny wanted to swim. He wanted to play in the water. He did not like the mud.I cannot breathe, he said. He pushed himself out of the mud. Soon he felt the water on his skin. Water! he said. Wonderful water! He played and swam in the water. There were other fish there. He had friends to play with. (page 53, line 11-18)This shows that we have to listen to our parents so that nothing bad will happen on us.

2. Think before you do something.- Lenny did not think before he decided to swim back to the pond. Finally, the pond became smaller and Lenny realised that there are reasons why did his parents asked him to go to the mud. But its just too late for Lenny to return back to the mud. For example, on page 54, line 7-10.What is happening? he asked. The water is getting less and less That is why the others went down into the mud said one of the fish.(page 54, line 7-10) PLOTExposition:On the exposition, the mother gives advice to her children about the human who catches them. She advised her children so that they will never go to the side of the pond. For example on page 49, line 13-16:We will stay in the middle of the pond. We will be safe, said Anzus.Yes, answered his mother. You must not go to the side of the pond (page 49, line 13-16)Rising Action:On the rising action, they were playing near the side of the pond and suddenly one of their brothers was caught by the human. The others did not know how to help him. All of the fish were very sad. This text can be seen on page 50, line 1-8:One day, there were playing by the side of the pond. They saw a big worm. It was hanging in the water. One of their brothers quickly caught the worm.Suddenly, something strange happened. He was pulled out of the water. He tried to get free. He turned to the right. He could not get free! (page 50, line 1-8)

Climax:The climax of the story showed when Lenny gets caught while he was playing in the pond that has no more water. Lenny was picked up by a little girl when he lay in the mud. The human put Lenny in a glass bowl of water, Lenny was able to swim again but Lenny felt very lonely. This text are shown on page 54, line 20-26 and page 55, line 13-17:But there was no more water in the pond. The fish could not breathe. Lenny could not breathe. He lay in the mud with his mouth open. They put him into a glass bowl. There was a lot of water in it.they gave him some bread to eat. Lenny swam around in the glass bowl. He was very lonely. He wished he had listened to his mother. ( page 55, line 13-17)Falling action:The falling action on this story is when the pond fills up again. The rain came and the pond was filled up with water. This is what we can see from the text on page 55, line 27 and 28.At the pond, the rain came again. It rained for many days. Soon there was water in the pond.
