Background What is the purpose of having a lost & found?
To reunite people with their lost thing(s). (Sgt.’s anecdotes) We saw a need to streamline lost and found process:
Goal is to return property as quickly as possible to the owner.
Utilize the 17 “known” Campus locations already collecting items and have the willingness to help!
We saw a need for a software program to facilitate the goal of returning items.
Necessitating updates to the Policy & Procedures. Governed by University Policy UML 10200; https://www.csus.edu/umanual/student/uml10200.htm

2019.To continue Beta testing with power users thru end of
Fall, and possible training of a few more interested Areas in Spring 2020.

Real time recording of lost and found property: Facilitates matching of items to return property.
Secure system for data and information with varied levels of access; full access only to Police Dept. personnel.
User training provided by Police Dept. Staff. Simple entry of details with drop-down menus,
brief notes and contact information for lost things.

Now we need your help!
Call for Satellite Areas Def: A Satellite Area will be a Campus Office interested
in assisting with the collection of lost items and releasing found property in their location. Now, the “Reasons”.
Responsibilities: Willingness and ability to record FOUND item(s) timely in
the ReclaimHub system. Utilize required release form. At least 2 people trained per Area as a back-up.
Each location must have a lead point of contact that is responsible for the Satellite Area.
Unclaimed lost Items will be picked-up by the Police Service Center Staff. In accordance w/ Civil Code 2080.9, all +90 day unclaimed property may go to Campus public auction site, disposed or donated.

Future Plans:Mobile APP with advanced features for owner to
report lost property!
Bonus: Faster return of items because the software allows
things to be tracked to the exact location stored vs. the current method of the owner walking around, and/or calling, multiple places that MIGHT have their property!
