Introduction
Golf Outing InformationAt Los Verdes Golf Course, golf events are our specialty. We have a long history of welcoming
groups and events to our club. Golf packages are available for groups of all sizes. Whether you
are planning a small golf outing of 16 players, or a full field shotgun of 144 players, allow our
experienced hospitality experts to assist you with every detail. Our staff works together for a top
quality golf experience every time.
Format considerations are important when blocking space or collecting pricing information. From
tee time events to full fields to full-course buyouts, our Club can accommodate most any request.
Equipment rental is available for men and women, provided that tournament requests are received
by the course within two weeks of the tournament date.
Group lessons and clinics are available for a fee or included in one of the selected golf outing
package. Putting contests are included in the price per guest. Custom tee prizes, merchandise and
certificates are available to complement any golf outing.
A Confirmation Agreement will be sent confirming all details, including number of players, format,
start time, date and any other details determined at the time to hold space. Once the signed
Confirmation Agreement is returned with the full deposit, the event is considered definite.
The non-refundable deposit, applied to your total, is required to reserve your date. The amounts
of the deposits are $100 for straight tee, and $500 for shotgun tournaments. 100% of the final estimated balance is due 15 days prior to the event date, and you are obligated for and guarantee
payment of all charges. All outstanding balances must be settled on the Golf Outing Date. Payment
for final charges are due when presented, and will be based on the greater of the Guaranteed
Guest Count or actual number of participants. Fees may include service charges, breakage, cash
bar, and other services or merchandise purchased on the Golf Outing Date.
Adjustments to the group’s size and requirements may be made without penalty or surcharge,
pending final guarantees are received by the course within thirty (30) days prior to the event.
A reduction of more than 50% of the group’s requirements within thirty (30) days is deemed
a cancellation, and thus subject to a cancellation fee; normally the amount of non-refundable
deposit, plus the number of unsold tee times at the group rate, as the result of the canceled
tee times.
To complete your tournament experience, our Clubhouse banquet facility is a perfect complement
to a fabulous day of golf and is complimentary with the purchase of any food package.
Please ask your tournament director about possible banquet and Food & Beverage options that
will accommodate your group best.
Club ProfileLos Verdes Golf Course is a beautiful, Billy Bell-designed course offering spectacular ocean views.
With its open layout, the golf course provides a beautiful backdrop and makes play enjoyable for
all levels of golfers. The combination of multiple elevation changes over 6,617 yards and the ocean
cliffs make putting a real challenge, giving the course a slope rating of 121. The toughest hole on
the course is the 441-yard par 4 fourth, which hugs the cliffs above the ocean. The newly renovated
driving range has an improved grass landing area, with five new target greens and two large
putting greens—everything you need for an exceptional golf experience.

Tournament Starting Options
Straight TeeThis option is ideal for smaller groups of 16 – 128 players. Each foursome tees off at the first (1st)
tee in sequential order.
Full-Field Shotgun This option is designed for groups with 128+ players and requires the full course be used. Two
groups start on each hole, and all players start and finish at approximately the same time.
Exclusive BuyoutThis option gives your group exclusive use of the course and includes a merchandise credit, along
with a Food & Beverage option. Give your guests the true feel of a private golf course. No minimum
player count. Only available Monday – Thursday.
Tournament Formats
Best Ball TwosomeTwo persons play as a team, taking handicaps as they fall on the card. The lowest score on the hole
with handicap counts towards the team’s best-ball score for round. Only the lowest score on the
hole is counted. The team that has the lowest 18-hole score wins.
Best BallThis format may be played as 2, 3, or 4-person teams, and is typically a fun format with a medium
pace of play. Golfers play their own ball on each hole, recording the lowest score as the team score.
This format may be played with or without a handicap. Results can be calculated quickly.
Scramble This format is one of the more enjoyable for tournament play, as only the good shots are played,
resulting in a fast pace of play. The tournament begins with all players hitting a tee shot. Next,
the best tee shot is selected and all players take their second shot from that point. The process is
repeated until the ball is “holed out”. The team records a score, and the winning team is the one
that has recorded the lowest 18-hole score. This format promotes easy, fast scoring.
Shamble This format is also one the more enjoyable types of tournaments, because like a scramble, you use
good shots only for a portion of the hole, but you also get the opportunity to play your own ball.
Each person hits a drive, and the team selects the best one. From that point forward, each player
plays his own ball through the hole. The team records a score and the winning team is the one that
records the lowest 18-hole score.
Skins A match play tournament where a “skin” is a point given to the player with the lowest score on a
given hole.
Special Events and Contests
Closest to the Pin (KP) A prize is awarded for the shot that comes to rest closest to the pin; normally played on the par 3s.
Closest to the Pin on 2nd Shot A prize is awarded for the shot that comes to rest closest to the pin; can be played on any hole on
the golf course except the par 3s.
Longest Drive (LD) A prize is awarded for the longest drive off the tee-box that lands in the fairway; this is normally
played on the course’s longest length par 5.
Longest PuttA prize is awarded to the person who makes the longest putt on a specific green. Recommended
contest is played on the course’s putting green at the clubhouse prior to the start of the
tournament, in order to promote a fun and competitive atmosphere while maintaining a reasonably
rapid pace of play.
Shortest Drive A prize is awarded for the shortest drive off the tee-box, which lands in the fairway; normally
played on the same par 5 of the longest drive contest; or on a hole with a natural hazard between
the tee box and the fairway (e.g., a lake, marsh, ravine, or cliff).
Straightest Drive A white line is placed down the middle of the fairway. The drive off the tee-box that comes to rest
closest to the line is the winner; normally played on the course’s last par 5 but not necessarily the
same par 5 used for the longest and shortest drive contests.
Circle HoleA white circle (the diameter is determined by you) is drawn around the hole on a par 3. Prizes are
given to those who hit their tee shot inside the circle.
Putting ContestA difficult one long putt (usually 60 ft.) is set up to challenge golfers either during registration or
when they make the turn from Hole 9 to Hole 10.
Helicopter Ball DropA ball drop can be a fun way to fundraise for your event. An additional contract will need to be
signed for this option. Ask your tournament director for more details.

Tournament Planning
Planner “To Do’s”• Have groups arrive “on time” no later than 30 minutes before starting time and/or first
meal function.
• Alert the course how the group will be arriving (e.g., motor coach, limo, vans,
or individually).
• Have complete and legible NAMES on each golf bag.
• Provide a pre-tournament agenda to all involved, including starting times, locker room
usage, catered functions, and golf. Note which expenses are the responsibilities of
each golfer.
• Provide the players list to the course no later than 72 hours prior to the event.
• Notify and have delivered to the course all sponsor signs, welcome banners, tee markers or
contest prizes no later than the day prior to the event. When shipping to course, address all
shipping labels to the “attention of” (tournament director) and note “hold for (tournament
and date)” to ensure proper delivery and holding.
• If using a master bill (or full payment at the completion of the event), provide and make
KNOWN to the host club the list of person(s) authorized to charge to the group’s account.
• If the length of playing time is a concern due to daylight hours (seasonal); planned functions
before/after the tournament back at the hotel; and/or difficulty of course, here are a few
hints to maximize playing time:
1. Select the proper tournament format for the level of players.
2. Limit the number of contest holes; too often there are too many and each takes twice
the average length of time to play given the prizes offered.
3. Start on time.
4. Promote “ready golf” - remind players to: • Have (or purchase) golf balls, tees, tee markers, divot repair tools.
• Carry an extra ball in a pocket at all times.
• Carry a putter with your other club when within chipping distance of the green.
• Be ready to putt when it’s your turn.
• Take ONLY ONE practice swing for each shot.
• Keep track of your score throughout the hole/game.
• Add and record scores away from the putting green and en route to the next hole.
• Check to ensure all clubs used for chipping and bunker shots are picked up after putting.
• Purchase food and beverage items only when it is clearly not your turn to play.
