Pronouns and Affirmative (+) tú Commands
• Pronouns are attached to the end of affirmative commands
• If the affirmative command has 3 or more syllables, place an accent over the third syllable counting from the end of the word
Práctica
• chop them (cebollas)– pícalas
• tell me it (the joke)– dímelo
• turn it on (the stove)– préndela
• do it (homework)– hazla

3 Steps
1. Go to the “yo” form
2. Drop the “o”
3. Do the BIG SWITCH
• add “es” for –ar verbs
• add “as” for –er and –ir verbs

1. Don’t turn on (encender) the oven.
• No enciendas el horno.
2. Don’t add (añadir) too much (demasiada) salt.
• No añadas demasiada sal.
3. Don’t put (poner) the shrimp in the frying pan yet.

When the negative commands have a pronoun…
• With affirmative they are added to the end of the command…
• However, with negative commands they come before the negative command.
– e.g. no me digas, – no me hables– no se la des
