Los Gatos High School Athletic Hall of Fame Welcome to the third annual induction ceremony for the Los Gatos High School Athletic Hall of Fame. It is our goal to recognize those young men and women who, while students at Los Gatos High School, distinguished themselves as outstanding athletes. It is the hope of this committee to create a Hall of Fame that will honor the accomplishments of past Los Gatos High School athletes and also serve as a source of community pride. It has become an impossible task to recognize all the athletes worthy of this honor in the first few years or even in the first ten years, so the committee asks for your understanding and help. Tonight each of you will be given a Hall of Fame ballot. Please take the time to nominate any athletes who you consider worthy of entry into the LGHS Athletic Hall of Fame. The committee will evaluate and discuss the accomplishments of each and every nominated athlete whose name we receive. We will add that person’s name to the growing list of outstanding athletes who will continually be considered. Next year we hope to recognize ten more athletes and continue to balance gender and era and cover the entire spectrum of sports competition throughout the decades. To be selected to the Hall of Fame, a candidate must receive 75% of the votes from the standing committee. This committee is dedicated to recognizing those athletes who clearly displayed greatness on the playing fields. We do not wish to insult any former athletes, but hope to continue the level of excellence that this current group typifies. Any suggestions for improvement can be sent to the Los Gatos Athletic Association and will be gladly received by the committee. Tonight our inductees will be recognized with a magnificent trophy, a banner to be hung in the school gym and a Hall of Fame Plaque with their names engraved to be mounted in the lobby of the gym. We plan to begin shortly after tonight's proceedings with the selection of next year’s class of inductees. The guidelines established by the committee require that 10 years pass from graduation at LGHS before a candidate becomes eligible for consideration. We hope to make the announcement for the Hall of Fame class of 2007 at the Alumni Reunion Football Game in October and honor the group at a Dinner in the spring of 2007. So please sit back and enjoy the accomplishments and feats of some of the greatest athletes in the long and storied history of Los Gatos High School. Los Gatos High School Hall of Fame Committee
