WELCOME TO THE SHOW!: Prior to tonight’s game, the Dodgers are expected to select the contract of INF/OF Cody Bellinger (#35) from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 21-year-old will be making his Major League debut in his fifth professional season after being selected by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. Bellinger, who entered the 2017 season rated by MLB.com as the Dodgers’ No. 1 prospect and rated by Baseball America as the seventh-best overall prospect in baseball, has posted a .343 (23-for-67)/.429/.627 slashline with 15 runs, four doubles, five home runs, 15 RBI and seven stolen bases in 18 games with the OKC Dodgers this year. TRUE AMERICAN HERO: On this date, 41 years ago at Dodger Stadium, Dodger broadcaster and then Cubs’ outfielder Rick Monday demonstrated his love for his country by sprinting and snatching the American flag from two protestors, before they could light it on fire in the outfield. The next season, 1977, Monday began an eight-year playing career with the Dodgers and in 1993, the Santa Monica native joined the Dodger broadcast team. Monday calls every game primarily alongside Charley Steiner for the Dodger flagship radio station, AM 570 LA Sports. DOWN ON THE FARM: Yesterday, Dodger prospect Will Smith was named California League Player of the Week for his first award in his young professional career. Smith hit safely in all seven games for the week of April 17-23 for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, going 11-for-25 (.440) with three doubles, three home runs, six RBI, five walks and four stolen bases, along with a .548 on-base percentage and a .920 slugging percentage.
