Our Story
Alfa Bakehouse is a Yarraville institution with a deserved reputation for providing high quality pastries. Founded in 1998 by brothers Chris and George Xanthis, Alfa Bakehouse continues a proud family tradition. Chris and George’s father Jim was a pastry chef of 35 years and has passed on his vast knowledge, expertise and experience to his sons. The highest standards remain at the heart of Alfa Bakehouse, which not only provides outstanding in-house dining options and service but also off-site catering.

Alfa Bakehouse Alfa’s wide range of products – including savoury and sweet pastries, home-made pies, sausage rolls and our fabulous spinach cheese filos – has made it one of Melbourne’s finest culinary operators. Alfa also offers a variety of gourmet breads, continental cakes and refreshments, plus a full-stocked sandwich bar. As well as the sumptuous food, Alfa Bakehouse is a great environment where friends meet to chat, whether that be inside or in our alfresco dining area, while savouring our great coffee. So visit us today and enjoy the Alfa experience. Our trading hours are Monday to Sunday, early until 5pm

Catering Menu Alfa Bakehouse is passionate about two things – high quality food and customer satisfaction and because of that, we offer a catering service to fit your every need. Our aim is to ensure our customers’ requirements are met with food that is not only on time, but mouth-watering. So even if you don’t have the time to dine in-house, there’s no reason to miss out on our superb products. We specialise in catering for breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon teas.
