Our 2BC Cooking Teams are back and better than ever for Wednesday night meals. How does home cooking sound?

Five teams of Second Baptist talent have been assembled again this year to rotate the preparation of our meal. It’s going to be good, so join if you can on Wednesday nights for a time of great food and fellowship before moving to the evening sessions for all ages.

MEALS ARE SERVED FROM 5:45–6:30 P.M.

COST $5/adult $3/children age 4–12 No cost for birth–3 year old. $15/family maximum

We are requesting meal reservations by Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. each week, but you can join us without a reservation. (Menu on pg. 4)

We’ve restructured our adult offerings into the new Second Experience. The sessions are in blocks of four-week offerings with a “GaP” (Gather and Pause) week in-between where we’ll all get together for one special session before we begin again. Here is a sneakpeekatthefirsttwoGaPandSessionblocks.

OUR COOKING TEAMS: We are setting up five cooking teams (We still need help with two of them!) Each team is responsible for preparation, set-up, and serving three times in the fall and three in the spring. We have added separate clean-up teams for after the meal.

Stephen Ministry Commissioning Service | Sept. 7 | 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. Worship ServicesStephen Ministry is a one-to-one lay caring ministry that equips and empowers lay caregivers—called StephenMinisters—toprovidehigh-quality,confidential,Christ-centeredcaretopeoplewhoarehurtingat2BC and beyond. On Sept. 7, we will commission the Stephen Leaders in worship services. They will help give the Stephen Ministry team guidance and direction in “bearing one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2).

Save the Date for SHINDIG | Sept. 14 | 4:00 p.m. | Ernest Shepard Center (610 Shepherd Rd., Liberty)Shindig is an old-fashioned celebration highlighting our ministry at 2BC. We’ll eat BBQ and pie, play games, look back at the last two years of ministry and look forward at the next two years to see where our faith journey will lead us.

Calling all bakers! Shindig features a pie-baking contest, and we need some of 2BC’s best bakers to compete for fun! Pie crust must be made from scratch, and the pie must have ahomemadefruitfilling.If you are interested in competing, please contact Bryan Boyd at [email protected], or Maggie Henderson at [email protected]. You also can call the church office at 817-781-2824.

College Ministry Kickoff | August 24 | After 11:00 a.m. Worship | Social Room (first Floor)College students are welcome to join us for a free lunch in the Social Room after the 11:00 worship service.youcanmeetnewfriends,learnaboutupcominggatheringsandfindopportunitiestogrow!

Ask questions and chat about Second Baptist, how things work and anything you might want to know as you become more familiar with the faith family at Second. Leaders for Community Groups Our Community Group Ministry at Second Baptist is made up of a variety of group types designed to meet a variety of participants’ needs toward spiritual growth and involvement. There are Activity Groups structured to share and explore a common activity. Study Groups for spiritual growth through study, exploration, and understanding of God’s word. Support Groups structured toward healing and growth of members who have gone through a common experience or crisis. And lastly, Covenant Groups are long-term support systems, high-commitment group. Group sign-ups will begin in September, with groups beginning in October. If you would like to lead a Community Group or have an idea for a group, we would like to hear from you. Please contact Connie McNeill, Interim Spiritual Formation Pastor at [email protected] or call the church office at 816.781.2824.
