Looking Up For over 15 years Kaiwá Christians have expressed the desire for a revised New Testament. The need became especially clear after the Old Testament was translated and then published alongside the New Testament in 2011. The New Testament, completed in 1986, utilized words and ways of speaking no longer used by the people group. As a result, many Kaiwá struggled to understand it. But that is beginning to change thanks to the Kaiwá translation team’s revision eﬀorts. On one occasion, a team member named Cristiane joined a discussion that several young people were having on 2 Timothy. Because the youths were using the original, unrevised translation, they had many questions about the book’s message. So Cristiane shared what she had learned about the Scripture through her involvement in the revision process. Seeing her grasp of the text amazed the youths, fueling their hunger for God’s Word. Now the Kaiwá team is working hard to complete the updated New Testament translation, so that everyone has access to Scripture in a language and form they clearly understand. Scripture EngagementKaiwá Christians are eagerly awaiting the New Testament revision, which they anticipate will bring more consistency and cohesion with the Old Testament.

As books are completed, team members will upload them to a mobile app. This way, the Kaiwá people will have access to Scripture as soon as it becomes available. Then, following this project period, the entire Bible will be typeset and printed.

You can help Kaiwá translators complete a revision of the New Testament!

In this project, staff members will:

• Finish revising the 12 remaining New Testament books — Matthew, John, Romans, 1-2 Corinthians, Philippians, Colossians, Hebrews, James, 1-2 Peter and Revelation.

• Prepare the entire Bible for publication.
