The four-way formation skydiving team, Fast Forward, fi nished seventh out of 34 teams in the 2006 U.S. Skydiving Nationals Championships held Oct. 21-28 in Eloy, Ariz.
Prior Lake High School alumni Kevin Burkart and Rich Barr are two of the fi ve members of the team.
Fast Forward fi nished 20 points out of fi rst place in their fi rst national championship
appearance. The team was in third for the fi rst few rounds and fourth place through the fi rst six rounds of competition.
“In the fi rst few rounds I think we were making some of the teams that medaled nervous,” Burkart said.
Fast Forward engineered round seven wrong, and fell to ninth place, Burkhart said. But the team recovered in the eighth through the 10th rounds to fi nish seventh overall.
Fast Forward made 10 jumps over two days. The fi rst seven
jumps were on Sunday. The last three jumps were made on Monday.
“It’s not a bad showing for our fi rst time at nationals. It was a fun time and a smoothly run competition,” Burkart said. “We just engineered round seven wrong; [we] would love to have it back again. Overall we probably should have fi nished fourth, but seventh is nice.”
