Our hunt for denim this time led us to Japan. We began in the subway of Tokyo.
GABBA is a denim brand with more than thirty years of experience in making jeans. We study and work with the material to create the coolest expression. We strive to get the utmost out of our work with fabrics, trims, washes and details. We are driven and determined. We are in fact
dedicated to denim.
We travel the world to find inspiration for our collections. We are on a hunt for denim. A hunt that this time led us to Tokyo, Japan.
SS16 Collection
Movements of a passing train, reflections of light between buildings, monotone sounds repeating in a way that appears to be music. Delve into the microstructure in the objects of the street and incorporating long
slim, asymmetric lines and geometrical shapes.
The thoughts emerge from Tokyo by mixing the street cultures with tra-ditional Japanese craftsmanship. Exploring the contrast between the clean glistening skyscrapers and the old authentic houses or the black suits and the handmade kimonos. This combination gives you a vast fu-
sion of the Japanese culture.
This season the jeans have either a natural worn look or special tre-atments. We have developed an interesting local rubber finish, random bleach, random dye and dip dye. this gives the collection a cool twist. We also have a truly unique all over patch jean where the patches have
been carefully hand placed one by one.
To incorporate the Japanese tradition into the collection we’ve made the jeans with Japanese inspired patches and Japanese selvage on a
brand new baggy tapered fit. The colors of the washes are light blue, greys, green casts, blue black
and black.
The motifs of the prints are distorted and adverse photo prints, ab-stract shapes of microstructures, blurred items and blackboard wri-tings. The shapes are long, slim and asymmetric with textural patchwork and raw edges. The color palette is kept in a grey scale with lots of
white, black and a touch of navy and Indigo.

The SS16 collection is highly inspired by the materials we found on our hunt for denim in tokyo. On the picture headdesigner Lone is working with an Indigo Yarn we found at the To-mioka Hachimangu Shrine Flea Market.

From the antique markets of Tokyo we have selected vintage fabrics for patchwork inspiration in a blend of cotton and linen that provide
us with authenticity.
The blue denim of these jeans has a softness like it has been worn for many years, and the wash is made with heavy stone treatment to create light color and fine white lines through out the jeans.

You can see on the rips and unraveled rags that it has been fighting to survive the challenges of time.
This Jeans is hand made making each jean unique with lightweight black denim patches on heavy 13oz black denim.
