Principal’s ReportPrincipal’s ReportPrincipal’s ReportPrincipal’s Report

It is great to be back on Australian soil and be back at the school I love most in the world. I have just returned from a study tour of schools in Canada and the USA. I was lucky enough to travel with the Principal and Assistant Principal from Western Port Secondary College and several other Principals and Leaders from South Australian schools. The purpose of the trip was to investigate and expose Australian school leaders to creative evidence based practices that will add value to delivering impact on student learning. TRSPS will focus on building teacher capacity and raising the expectations and aspirations of our learners. Tyabb Railway Station Primary School is one of the most sensational learning environments in the world. At TRSPS we want all students to receive a great education so they are well prepared for Secondary College and the 21st century. We believe high performing quality school leaders and teachers play a central role in achieving this goal. Thank you to all the TRSPS staff and students that ensured the school functioned like a well-oiled machine in my absence. RENOVATIONS Thank you to everyone for their patience when our renovations were happening. It was with much excitement the toilets were officially opened on Monday morning. Unlocking the doors to the bathrooms is no longer a feared task! They are truly magnificent. Thank you to the John Lyngs Group builders for their professionalism and for going above and beyond. EARN AND LEARN STICKERS A HUGE thanks to everyone who sent along their Earn and Learn Stickers they received from shopping at Woolworths over the last couple of months. We have now finalised our collection of stickers and sent off our sticker sheets to Woolworths Earn and Learn. We had over 12,000 points to spend. We will redeem the points for resources for our school. We look forward to receiving a variety of digital coding resources for our students to use in the classroom.

NAVY Thank you once again for the Navy attending our school last Thursday for some much needed general maintenance and tidy up. Thank you to Geordie for ensuring lots of little jobs were taken care of whilst we had help at hand. The school looks fantastic and ready to be showcased on Saturday for our 110th Birthday celebrations! 110

th BIRTHDAY MARKET DAY

Don’t forget to come along this Saturday 28th October and support our school in recognizing it reaching the ripe old age of 110. What a brilliant milestone to reach. Not many 110th birthday celebrants can say they get more attractive and more intelligent with age but Tyabb Railway Station Primary school can make this claim proudly. Let’s make this a day to remember with lots of fun activities and market stalls. The jumping castle, animal farm, face- painting and show bags are sure to be popular. Come along and be be part of the fun. Thank you to the many volunteers that have made this day possible. If everyone just does a little bit it makes a big difference. Can’t wait to see you all…..come and visit me at the face painting stall!

Lifesearch results (bird survey) Report from Gayle Jervois: During September the Foundation class took part in Lifesearch 2017 to coincide with Biodiversity Month. The students conducted a bird survey within the school grounds and recorded 23 different species of birds. A total of 2.5 hours was spent doing hands on learning in the outdoor classroom. The children used binoculars and bird identification books. The data recorded during Lifesearch has been uploaded to the Atlas of Living Australia's database and has made a valuable contribution to our understanding of life in the Western Port Biosphere. Our school is now in the running for some great prizes!

Cyber Safety News..

A new app that has been developed to protect children on their mobile devices.

The new App is Mobile Zone and can be downloaded from Family Zone or from the app stores. It provides concerned parents the ability to set age appropriate content, set routines and offers granular device controls such as camera disablement on their child’s school required device. When the students are at school, the school's policy applies. When they are at home, Mum and Dad set the policy with seamless transitioning between the two. Family Zone fully support the parents in their endeavours to provide a safe environment for their child.
