    1. Gingham- Adding a fresh element, this look works well for sweet summer looks, as seen at

Margaret Howell and Topshop Unique. For a darker take, subvert gingham with sexy cutaway

effects and sheer panelling as at Christopher Kane.

    2. Sheer - Use opaque and sheer fabrics to add modesty to the essential cutout details, as panel

effects or even as layering garments for a sportier look.

    3. Zips- A decorative feature for a few seasons now, next summers update is contrast and

exposed zipper tapes. Our favourite is the gloss black version seen at Topshop Unique.

    4. Straps- Continuing from New York, we love asymmetric straps, great for updating sporty looks.

    5. Shine- From the subtle - silk gazars, duchesse satins and glazed coatings - to the full-on high-gloss metallics, all-over sequins and even latex and rubber, shine in all its forms proves to be an

    essential for next season.

    6. Print mix- Mix poppy elements with dots and more-classic prints for a playful effect. We also

love all-sequin graphic motifs, as seen at Ashish and Topshop Unique, creating a young kitsch look.

    7. Candy colours - Sherbet and sugary pastels were all over the London catwalks. Mix with pale

grey and white for a fresh summer look.

    8. Knotted drape- London updated drape this season with the introduction of knotted and twisted

effects as seen at Burberry Prorsum and Louise Goldin.

    9. Hip emphasis- Luella and Antonio Berardi showed a more extreme pannier style achieved with

padding and accentuated cutting. A more commercial variation appeared at Nicole Farhi and Betty

Jackson with the use of peg pleating, draped effects and extended pocket lines.

    10. Bust emphasis- From babydoll silhouettes, bra tops and panel cutting to enhance the bust

area, this look works best for flirty daywear separates and sweet summer dresses.
